finance my weed enterprise

My thoughts lean towards a few things:

New ultrabook convertible (like the Sony DUO 11 or Lenovo X-Twist or Convertible)
Tools for the woodshop (could use a real router table and a good plunge router plus a bench sander)
Shed for the gardening equipment, freeing up room for more tools in the workshop side of the garage.

A week ago i would have said spend it all on Powerball tickets...

My division did 103% of plan, the company had it's first profitable year in the last 5. And I and another developer wrote a CAD interface (he did the UI, I automated the CAD system) that impressed a prospective client so much it brought in our groups largest client ever at $2.9 million. Yeah, we did good. My total bonuses for the year will be $16,500. $9,200 has already been distributed to me and used to pay off a ton of bills, so I'm using this for some fun.

Anyhow, what I'm wondering is your folks opinion on the convertible laptops/ultrabooks.

I want light, so no regular desktop. the HD4000 chip is fine for graphics. Only one game I play won't run well on it, and it still works (The Secret World) but STO and SW:TOR work great on it. I'm looking at the i7 processors with 8 Gig RAM and the solid state drives (128 Gig in the Lenovo and 256 Gig in the Sony). The sony will run about $1650 has twice the SSD and weighs less, but has a smaller screen at 11.6". The Lenovos will run under $1200 and have a slightly bigger display (12.5") but weigh 8-10 ounces more than the Sony.

One other difference is the Sony has a Full HD screen (1920x1080) where as the Lenovo only does 1366x768.

Always pick a Lenovo over Sony.

There was a time when discussing one's money in public was taboo.

With that small of a screen, the difference in resolution isn't going to matter.

Lenovo has better build quality and customer support than Sony. I doubt you'll really notice the resolution, having the slightly larger screen is going to be better, imho. 10oz isn't going to be that noticeable either. If you really want to hold it for a significant amount of time, you should be getting an Android/Apple tablet anyway.

My only thought on the resolution is more along the lines of programming on it. But I could get a Lenovo dock and external monitor(s) for the home office when I code like I have at work for my Dell Latitude E.

@abge - No to the androids or even a Windows 8 tablet. It will sit on my lap for extensive periods as I play my games, but even the MSI Windpad running Windows 7 or 8 won't play the games. Tablet processors and video cards like the AMD Fusion Z10 and AMD video won't run the medium end games like STO and SWTOR.

My school uses those lenovo's. They are great, but not you cannot be rough at all on them, i have seen them break a lot and the parts are highly expensive to replace.

Lenovo sucks rabble rabble rabble. Get an ASUS.

For fun and the lightweight. I might consider another ultrabook. The Sony is getrting rave reviews for it's durability as it does this slider thing and doesn't have the fragility of a tiwst or the risk of damage with the detachable keyboards like the surface.

Asus is the only brand of laptop I'd recommend other than Lenovo.

I'd recommend the X1 Carbon. I've had a Lenovo tablet for several years and have not been gentle with it at all. It's still fine.

The only ASUS that does what I want is only running an i5 dual core (not the true quad core i7) with just 4 Gig and a 64 Gig SSD. Just not cutting it.

Is it windows based? Must be windows based so I can VPN and Remote Desktop into my work network, servers, and development laptop I would start leaving there.
