I would like to take part in this one, Draug. Anything between 24 and 48 hours a phase is fine with me. I'm also happy with any buy-in, 5 seems a bit small but I can see you don't have many to spare. Maybe 25?

5 point buyin. Good players in a passworded game don't need points at risk. Points just alter their game.

I'm not sure I get this point actually. Do you not think there is a difference between a high-stakes game and a low-stakes game?

And I'm not entirely sure points really influence the game. In fact, I think it's more the PPSC v WTA that really influences the way people play. But I've seen this in FTF games as well. Some people give up once they don't have a shot at winning, some keep on playing for ever. It's more a matter of principle than of points I think.

Having said that, I've always found that high-stakes games really make sure that players keep paying attention.

Just for the fun of it i would like to play this game. Sign me up if you want me.

Not playing this one, but 24h phases make the best games really. You have to really manage your messages, anticipate reactions of other players well so as not to miscommunicate, use retreat and build phases to do long term negotiations etc. I always found it adds an extra dimension not being to iron out an absolutely perfect alliance at the beginning of the game and leaving little things open to creativity. Just sayin'.

I prefer 24 as well, red, but I am flexible for those who want longer. 25 (1 day 1 hour) is the perfect game to me.

@MoW - To some folks points matter so much that big pot games make them play more conservatice and take fewer risks. So they play for the draw and not the win which is counter to the spirit of the game. The boardgame is played until somebody hits 18 or everyone agrees it is stalemated, but everyone plays to win until one person is clearly on a solid path to victory then the rest gang up to stop him. You don't get three way alliances that play for the draw in the boardgame, or you shouldn't if everyone plays it right.

So Draugnar are you going to make this game regardless, or only if Lando signs up?

I already said I would play if Draugnar insists, which apparently he is.

I would prefer 25 hrs and probably anonymous. I also will reserve a right to veto players from this game since if I am being forced to play I would prefer to ensure it is actually 6 good players and draugnar.

Jamie - what is your motivation for wanting to play this game? Also, you have a very recent resign in a very similar game - can you explain this as well?

I actually have two recent resigns. I did post on the forum a while back to apologise and explain - I had to go into hospital at very short notice to have my large intestine removed. It really was one of those unavoidable situations I'm afraid.

As you can see my actual resign rate is very low. I'm not a serial CD-er.

As for my motivation for wanting to play, I don't have many games on at the moment and would enjoy a decent game with some reasonably decent players who are likely to be able to diplome properly and not CD. I don't think I've been in a game with you before, or certainly not for a long time if I ever have, and it'd be interesting.

Agreement among players regarding phase length and anonymity is then all that remains. For my part, I am fine with whatever phase length but if we intend to play 36 or longer I would hope peole could finalize through retreats and builds. Also, due to the nature of this game and circumstances surrounding it, I think anonymous makes sense to eliminate any potential meta aspects, but again, I am willing to hear from others.

I would also prefer anonymous. I am happy with any phase length between 24 and 48 hours.
