So my family's finances have been somewhat tight lately, and they've managed to get even tighter in recent days. As a consequence, I'm going to have to work two jobs over winter break and possibly into next semester to help prop things up. Between that and finals (which, admittedly, are ending soon, but have still managed to be a serious distraction), I just do not have time for webDiplomacy right now, and so I need to find replacements/a sitter for my remaining games.
First I'd like to issue apologies to all of those who are in my games right now. Yellowjacket, semck, et al, I'm sorry that I have to withdraw from our game so soon after finally getting it off the ground. Babak and others in the World Game Top 100 Challenge, I apologize for the inconvenience - I had a feeling this might happen, but I thought I could handle it. MadMarx and company in webDip's game of the year: I hate to put y'all in such a tight spot and I really need to apologize for some rather nasty comments made in that game. Stress is no excuse for being as rude as I was. Sargmacher, etc., sorry for having to find a replacement in the gunboat challenges; I'll find a replacement worthy of such high-quality play.
Secondly, I am stating here as well as in each press game that I would request a few days' pause to finish finals and find a replacement, so there is no room for doubt. Given the lack of restrictions agreed upon with regard to pauses, the very classy, sportsmanlike nature of the competition and the stakes of all the games, I expect that honoring this humble request will not be an issue.
Thirdly, due to the varying nature of the games, I think I may need to be forced into CD and replaced with multiple players; all of my games right now are invitationals, most of which had specified alternates, so merely acquiring a sitter is likely not an option. I would request that the moderators deduct points from my account to cover any buy-in costs for my replacements; consider it my gift to the opponents inconvenienced by this development as well as an incentive to get the requisite sitters in the first place.
Fourthly, as the previous paragraph indicates, I am indeed looking for sitters. The games:
"Converted" -
gameID=73901I was specifically invited to this one, don't know if there were any qualifiers for it. Yellowjacket and semck can chime in and clarify this. Naturally, I'd welcome anyone to apply.
"World Game Top-100 Challenge" -
gameID=73678The name pretty much says it all. Babak had a list of alternates, so if any alternates still want to play, this would be your opportunity. I think I'm leaving behind a pretty good Libyan position, so don't be intimidated by the fact that you're Libya.
"The Conservationist" series -
gameID=73738 gameID=73739 gameID=73740Gunboat series hosted by Sargmacher. I think Sargmacher had a list of alternates for this one as well, so APB for any such people: your services would be greatly appreciated.
"CTGRC" aka "webDip GOTY" -
gameID=72904This, I regret to say, is the all-top-12 or whatever ridiculous margin game, which I'm disrupting significantly with my departure. There weren't alternates for this one... so I'm accepting all applications, but I'm taking the highest GR player that I get who also gets a consensus with the other six players in the group. Selection will be rather picky with this one; such a game merits it.
Again, I would like to express my sincerest apologies for the problems this is causing. If I could see any other way, I would take a different route. As it is, I don't know when I'll return, so I cannot realistically just ask for a pause; and the games clearly require me to find replacements instead of a single sitter, unless by some happenstance a top-notch-GR player happens to be willing to take on six games to their conclusion.
I've enjoyed my time here immensely and I fully expect to return at some point, but this is probably my last hurrah for a while.
