In my opinion, yes, being brutally honest is completely acceptable. But you are not being brutally honest. You are being a pompous, know-it-all asshole. Is that brutally honest? What you are saying to me is 100% (well, almost. Call it 95%) correct, but the manner in which you say it makes me not want to listen.
What the "ideologues" on this site are doing are speaking with compassion, not necessarily saying "oh you're right, you'll be fine" I mean, this thread is about CM. Look back at some of the threads he made. I mean, the one a month or so ago about that girl he liked, we were all telling him off at how much he botched that one up, and how many mistakes he made. I mean, many people, such as abge and Mafia (only ones I can think of right now) just tell it to him as it is, no bullshit.
and yes, they should think twice about points of view before posting, but think of it like this: this is our opportunity to teach them *how* to think, to not accept things immediately. Maybe they're so cocky because they just learned it in class today and feel that its truth, but on the forum, they get to experience many different viewpoints on the issue, and through the ensuing discussion, they could learn something. Don't tear them down. Show them the flaws in being so narrow-minded and try to open their views to other possibilities. Its frustrating that they don't listen, but keep trying. Or, if they're TC and mute you, mute them in return and you have one less problem to worry about.
And yes, many educators don't have practical business experience. My accounting teacher has spent most of his life teaching accounting after a short stint in the private sector. One of my econ teachers was still earning his doctorate. But you are making such a broad and incorrect statement. My astronomy teacher went to Los Alamos twice and went to India for a convention to lecture with some NASA scientists. Another business professor we have is an ex-CEO (I think from Kodak, can't be sure). My Turkish history teacher is currently in Istanbul combing through Ottoman archives. Your statements are too easy to disprove because you are too angry (or at least you speech is). Calm yourself and think realistically about what you're saying. And in my experience, yes, some teachers get offended. But most get excited at other points of view and want to explore them with you. I suppose its the difference between a good teacher and a bad one.
I'm not saying you should stop what you're doing, or that this outburst is unjustified, only that you should consider your position, maturity, and the fact that this is a anonymous forum on the internet when responding to posts. Keep telling the truth, just don't do it in a hateful or mocking way.
