I speared a dinosaur in midflight yesterday. Can you believe it, a real dinosaur! Must be the most amazing thing to happen since the invention of sliced bread. Unfortunately, I burned the body with muiriatic acid immediately afterwards, as to keep with the reptilian tradition of sinking into pits of caustic material. I've noticed "conspiracy theory" has increasingly come to mean "not government sanctioned version of reality".

It is totally rational to not believe things you cannot confirm. However, it is totally irrational to not believe things you cannot confirm to be false.
Unless you have proof that Bin Laden is alive, you should accept it is quite possible he is not.

@Sic - By definition, not accepting the government's version is believing there is a conspiracy to hide the truth. But it doesn't mean that all Conspiracy Theories are created equal. Believing that Roosevelt's intel reports indicated Pearl Harbor was going to happen and he was just waiting for it as an excuse to be active in WWII is definitely less extreme than thinking the government actively demolitioned the WTC Twin Towers and blew a gaping hole in the side of the Pentagon, for instance.

If the government ever told the truth, they'd lie about it.

But Darwyn, the government is an ever changing entity, not an individual. Perhaps the Obama version is more truthful than the Bush version and, except when it came to get a little something-something in the oval office, the Clinton version was more honest than both of them. Of course, they all are politicians and we are approaching that time of the term.

And, no, conspiracy theory is just a theory. Now conspiracy theorist usually implies one who believes everything is a conspiracy.

But when it comes to conspiracies, I live by the Great Detective's rule. Eliminate the impossible and whatever remains, no matter how implausible, must be the truth. Combine it with Occam's Razor and some conspiracy theories are way out there and other's are more plausible than the government sponsored "truth".

I'm not at all entrenched in any belief. If actual proof (a politicians word is not good for anything idiots) were to come out tommorrow, how could I deny it.

For the record I'm not trying to argue that osama bin laden is alive. I think he is most likely dead, either some years ago of organ failure, or some days ago by a shot to the head. Either seems more likely than him still being around (hiding in a cave I dont doubt).

I undertsna dthe dumping of the body now. It was in keeping with Muslim beliefs of burying the dead within 24 hours and no autopsies. And I believe there are several people taking the issue of the photos to court under the FOIA. Being a military operation that was complete and planned with CIA intel, this is not classifiable material, so Obama can't keep it protected under the White House header as it wasn't Executive Branch only information. I think we will see it within 6 months if it exists.

And I suspect some hackers are already working on the government's network/servers that transmitted the photos digitally from the field looking for archival/cached copies that will come out like a WikiLeaks report.
