Leagues Betting

This League season, you have the opportunity to make small bets with dip-points on the outcome, because I shall be running a book on it. Make them by replying to this thread. Rules and odds are inside.

You may not bet unless you have over 200

total. Maximum betting for each league on which odds are being offered is 20. You may split that into more than one bet.

If you want to, you can of course make a "gentleman's bet", in which case please just mark it clearly.

I'll be making a spreadsheet of the bets I receive, and taking off points now. When the leagues end, I'll allocate points to the winners

Let's say I lay down 20

on BZD to win league A. What happens if BZD and TheWizard tie in league points? Do I lose? Is it a push? Or do I win partial or full points?

Wow, I'm surprised this was cleared with Kestas. I've thought about this idea when the points system was introduced, before mods even had the ability to take/give points.

Are the odds completely based upon Ghost Rating? That's an interesting application, and surely puts the validity of Ghost Rating to the test.

Uh.

For an imbecile such as myself, who has no good understanding of gambling, can the numbers next the names that are called "odds" be explained?

Doesn't seem to be percent chance of winning..

Also, say I bet 50

on MarekP. I'm saying "I bet MarekP wins."

I get that, but what is the significance of the 50

? It goes into the pot. Say he wins. How much do I get out? My original 50 plus.. what?

And in the case of a draw?

Ghost hasn't really explained, but if its anything like the odds on the UK betting websites, thats the scalar you'd win back - ie bet 50 on MarekP with odds of 6.9, you'd win 345 (note limit is 20 though)

@Alderian, if there is a tie on points, its SC count. If there is a tie on that, its previous season performance, but I'm not aware of that ever having happened before.

Possible sitter needed

I may need a sitter (for a little over a week) from 5/21 - 5/30. I've got three TMG games and two GRC games currently going on along w/ the league games getting ready to start. I'll be out of the country and my access may be limited. I should know for sure by mid-week, but I'd like to be prepared so I'm not frantically requesting pauses or a sitter at the last minute. Thanks.
