The Phoenicians are underrated, the Israelites are overrated. Poor Phoenicians. They're one of my favorite peoples in Ancient History. They don't show up often, but when they do, it's usually to be awesomely competent and show up everyone else. It's a shame they don't do too well militarily...

As much as I hate to bother replying to you, I should note that the strongest word I ever said was "overrated," which doesn't preclude anything. You can love things and still think they're overrated.

From the Oxford English Dictionary itself, overrate means: "1. trans. To rate or assess too highly; to have a higher opinion of than is deserved; to overestimate." Nothing about dislike. You should really learn how to read before making accusations like that.

Where are the Phoenicians now? I'd have to say they are Overrated, as they apparently excelled in the wrong things necessary for their survival. Ok, they had great (whatever they did great), but they weren't great enough for it to survive in any meaningful way beyond a college art history course (or whatever). Phoenicians = Losers.

Lord of the Rings is very over rated, both the books and movies. Don't get me wrong, I think they are good, but definitely over rated. (Simirilian/Hobbit are under rated though, so maybe it evens out. :D)

actually come to think of it Modern Warfare 2 is overrated. Half life 2 is just a little underrated and I still think that nobody here knows anything about the Touhou games.

Water is underrated. Seriously. That stuff rocks but you guys all just take it for granted. I mean not even getting into the little detail that it's essential to our lives, makes up some fraction of our bodies, universal solvent yadda yadda yadda. Refreshing drinks, hot showers, swimming?

I still think MW2 is overrated. I like the game but I mean people either get too serious about it or they go on and on about how it's the best game in history. I even think Imperishable Night was better and it's a danmaku game.
Actually all of the games in that series were better....

modern warfare 2 isnt the best game ever, but it sure is one hell of an fps, balanced very well, and i didnt think it would be possible to improve that much on mw1, but they definitely did

Hunter, do you know anybody who rates water very high as a drink? But now actually think about it's worth as a drink. Clean, potable water is something so many people around the world don't have and as a result they die of the worst kinds of diseases... diarrheal diseases. That's not a joke, it's actually fucking awful.

Potable tap water is like the greatest thing, but very few people acknowledge this. You can conveniently and reliably drink it, use it to brush your teeth, to clean your food. It's such a serious god damn inconvenience to be in a country where the tap water is suspect and you've got to use bottled water.

Anyways, compare the actual worth to the general credit the average Westerner gives water. Under-friggin-rated.

Dexter isn't underrated. I'd say it's pretty fairly rated.

I'd say Arrested Development and Firefly were underrated but their fan base makes up for their small numbers with sheer dedication, the latter more so.

Water is god, I carry a gallon with me around school, drink it like crazy, and all the time people tell me I'm being weird for drinking water. Water is underrated, but pretty fucking awesome.
I feel like vegetarianism is overrated a bit, because it oftentimes preaches being healthier than eating meat while neglecting all the other aspects of life that determine ones health, such as exercise. Probably just my experience with vegetarians, since the ones I know are all stuck up teenage girls, but it has seriously lowered my respect for vegetarianism.

Also I agree with you on the presidents, but sleep is amazing. I don't know if I would say it's underrated, but it is at least fairly rated.

vamos, if it's any comfort to you, vegetarianism is not more healthy than an omnivorous diet. They'll point to high levels of cholesterol and greater incidence of heart disease amongst meat eaters but that's just because we eat too much. There are adverse health effects to eating too many vegetables too. One of my friends overdosed on vitamin A he ate so many carrots and cantaloupes! Not to mention there's some evidence (admittedly preliminary) that vegetarians have decreased cognitive and reproductive function. Ha! Of course, the real argument against vegetarianism is bacon. =)
