Well I support Liverpool since they're the only club team I could do well with in my rare games of FIFA09. Looks like I sorta picked the wrong year to jump on the bandwagon(Aston Villa at Anfield? Really??) but they did beat Man U today so good for them.

I also kinda like Fulham, just coz they start an American :)

As for national teams, I support the US obviously, but I also kinda like England and Germany.

Everybody's football is not called soccer! That's only in USA and Canada.

As for my preferences:
I'm Portuguese, so I support Portugal; We are not good but we will be playing the playoff for the world cup with Bosnia.

I'd enjoy a Spaniard win but there are a lot of great teams out there, like Holland, Germany, Brazil, etc.

I enjoy both for what they are, but find hockey and rugby to be more enjoyable than FIFA. Something about the fast-paced violence of hockey and the balls-to-the-wall violence of rugby appeals to me.

My favorite is football followed by basketball. They both have the most going on, non-stop. I guess hockey and rugby would be the same, but I'm not really into the whole violence thing.

It is ironic that two of Americas biggest sports have a lot of non-action in them. NFL/College/High School football have tons of time in between plays and baseball is all about waiting for the pitcher to throw the ball and the batter to decide it is right and hit it back into play.

What IS irony, is that all Brits take the piss out of American Football and Baseball, when they were founded under the rules of their own true to heart past times of Rugby and Cricket.

Football, the worldly kind, has a lot of ebb and flow action to it as well, and personally, I don't care for any of the sports. Go hockey or go home.

National team - US and Holland. Holland because I had a crazy Dutch coach when I was a kid that tried to teach a U10 team "Total Football"

Umm Geofram - been to a televised NHL game lately - lots of ebbing, not so much flowing.

The irony is that we have such a fast paced society and complain everything is so slow (drive thru windows for freaking pharmacies, banks, restaurants, you name it) and yet our two biggest sports are slow paced and take 3-4 hours to play a game. You'd think with the ADD kids we are raising and our love for fast cars (NASCAR/CART/IRL) and violence (just look at our movies and TV) that hockey and basketball would be our two biggest, but they fall #3 and #4 (basketball then hockey I'd venture to guess) and are far behind #1 and #2 (and I don't know which is technically #1).

They're the bigger sports because they make more money. At first it was because they allowed more spectators, now it's because they allow more advertising. The only reason they're the biggest today is because they were the biggest yesterday and the guys making from it want it to stay that way.
