Spiders.

Though granted, I guess technically speaking they're arachnids as opposed to what we consider bugs, but they freak me out nonetheless. Especially the big, hairy ones. Hell, I'd be happier if they were the size of a large dog or small horse - they may be able to eat me, but at least they couldn't crawl on me.

But I digress. I've had no issues; everything looks great.

I think there's a problem with the game-search feature, but I'm not really certain. It could just be that I'm not quite savvy enough.

Couple of small points:
- Is there something wrong with the OPEN GAMES (CDs) - it now usually shows also games that are full.
- Related to the above (the GAMES tab) - the pagination is also not totally ok - if you are on page 10 in one section it will also take you to page 10 if you change the section (e.g. page 10 of your open games - which is empty and you have to select to go to page 1 manually)
- If you are making a Search for a game - and you change the sorting order - your sorting preference is lost when you go to the next page (pagination again?)
- When in a Board View and on the message screen, the name of the player is shown in BLUE (top left corner above the messages log). Always freaks me out - I would press the 'send' button, see the blue above, and think "this was not intended for France" :). Anyone else have a similar problem? Can the player name be also in the color of the country? Or black (or other map-neutral color)?

Having the text before you send it colored green is also a little odd. Always makes me think I'm Italy, even when I'm not. (Although I am Italy a lot more than I would like to be).

Speaking of spiders, I just recently learned (from my 6 year old) that Daddy Long Legs are NOT spiders. They are arachnids, but not spiders. How odd!

How about a ghost rating system on everyones profile?

the fleet image remaining on the coast when it is disbanded in SPA, BUL, and STP. also, the new bug that allows you to support hold the ghost unit there even after it's been disbanded.

Great work on 9.0, Kestas. I have a suggestion, but don't know if it is a tweak or not. It would be nice to have a text field that could be populated when a game is created, which the creator would use to describe additional information about how he/she wants the game to be seen. For instance, if they want people who talk a lot, or just inexperienced people, etc. Also could be used to indicate Gunboat or Public Press only games. It wouldn't create any mandatory requirements, but just give a sense of the intended game. Right now, that sort of information is often carried in the game name, which makes it quite cumbersome.

Ah ha! Turn about is fair play. Finally something for us colorblind folk to be happy about! Kudos to the developers!

As in every such thread, I would like to request a simple 50% PPSC 50% WTA scoring system. PPSC completely changes the spirit of the game and turns away strong players. This is a good active community and the interface is nice and easy - it can be the one and only site for diplomacy online if you make a scoring system that appeals to serious players as well as beginners.

I would prefer the 50:50 scoring system too.

I had a thread recently on allowing a flag next to the name of the player, with their chosen country of origin. Not a bug but just an idea.

Gunboat also seems to be fairly popular on this site? So why not just have that as a generic game to play, taking away the ability for any press of any kind...or would that be too much to do?

I like the idea of the ghost ranking next to each player's name, it may even be better to have that than the current rankings with number of points, especially when you spend for a game and reduce yourself...of course you could win or draw and get more back but there you go.

And a Camel Spider or SUn scorpion as its also known is neither a Spider or a Scorpion....its something else completely and i cant remember for the life of me what it is, but they are truly the most evil looking creature ever created, ever.

DJ, fair point, did not know this was an issue. Then again, we average folk are not used to being careful about those things - while you obviously pay more attention to what is written and are not do distracted by colors. Don't judge us too hard, for we're obviously lazy and stupid - and we want our 'for dummies' interface back :)

Wasn't there a big discussion about a unified 'hybrid' scoring system some months ago? Good idea to have one default, and tournaments/private games can offer other alternatives.

Find the user with this find function, and note the User ID (Column 2)
Then type to the address bar http://webdiplomacy.net/profile.php?userID=xxxx replacing xxxx with the userID.

There you have it.

There is no inbuilt search function atm.

@ Dunecat: That has already been fixed.

1)Those using IE still do not have their messages auto-scroll to the new ones in their games. This has caused me to miss two rather important messages. One which worked in my favor and one which most certainly did not :/

2)Add a section for "Watched" games so that we can, well, watch the games that we want to keep an eye on. It would be great if watched games also gave you notices when they rolled over, etc...

3)User search capability and a friend list would be nice.

4)Improved stats - specifically, can we remove your current games from affecting the W/D/S/E percentages? I feel that percentages should only be calculated from finished games.

5)Added functionality for live games: allow for 15 minute phases. Also, live games would benefit from being able to set an even shorter phase time for builds and retreats. It would be perfect if we could have 15 minute spring/fall phases and 5 minute build/retreat phases.

6)Keep track of the number of times a player has gone CD in their profile. Add a feature to game creation: max allowable CDs. Have one CD fall off the system for every 5 games a player completes or every 90 days or something like that. I believe this would greatly cut down on the number of repeat CD players we have.
