Do Republicans think that reason is good or bad?
There seems to be debate on the right about whether reason is to be trusted or not. (The left is uniformly suspicious of spurrious argument). I'm seeing Republican lawmakers being skeptical about using reason but rightwing media seems fine with it

Help.
How do you deal with unprovoked verbal violence in a game. I know it isn't against a site rules. But if I mute a player will it mute them in a game thread?

Webdip Conservatives have convinced me my world view is flawed.
I have decided to become a Republican and a Libertarian because the arguments made on this forum have convinced me the Democrat party is no better than the pro-slavery radicals of the 1860's. I have learned that tax cuts for the wealthy, deportations, and putting business and moneymaking ahead of health of US citizenry is paramount

It is always darkest before the dawn
Given the Don Jr. revelations, this might seem like a bleak time for the Republicans, but if they can wait out the media coverage without breaking rank they will be have saved Trump. There is no larger shoe yet to drop and it will be morning in America again.

shoe?
Hauta (1618 D(S))
12 Jul 17 UTC
shoe: There won't be any email from the President. He doesn't use email. There is unlikely to be any recorded phone call of the President admitting collusion. Thus, the Don Jr. email is probably the biggest shoe that CAN drop. It is likely that the only way to establish collusion by the President himself is via circumstantial evidence. Thus, the only realistic way to impeach is via obstruction of justice wrt Comey as was introduced today in the House by a Democrat...but will go nowhere.

If the Republican Senate can just hang in there a little longer, the country will be renamed "American SSR."

I don't understand all this talk about a shoe. Why has Donald Trump's prick of a son been sending emails about shoes?
Hauta (1618 D(S))

huh, have you not heard of the expression "waiting for the other shoe to drop"? Look it up.
Jamiet99uk (808 D)

So... what is the second shoe that we are waiting for?

@Jam, the 2nd shoe we are waiting for, but which will never appear, is the President emailing someone about Russia collusion.

@ND, meeting with a Russia is cool. But conspiring with them to defeat an American government function is a crime. I know you know that.

The illegality was Trump Jr. thought he was dealing with the Russian government. His emails specified he was going to meet through her with them. So he expressed clear intent to violate the law. Only because he was lied to prevented him from committing a crime.

Just imagine if Chelsea Clinton meeting had met with a Russian lawyer to get dirt on Trump. Hillary would've been impeached in March and we'd have President Paul Ryan.
JamesYanik (548 D)

guys... you do realize there's no legal standard for impeachment? it's a purely political decision.

also @SamWest the Clinton campaign DID meet with some people connected in the Ukrainian government for information on Trump

@yanik, even if Hill is guilty, that doesn't absolve Trump. Wouldn't it be more just if both were investigated?

@Hauta

oh yeah, i agree. i just want to have some consistency here
ishirkmywork (1401 D)
13 Jul 17 UTC
also James -- Hillary is not president. The Ukraine thing should be investigated of course, but the possibility of Russian blackmail controlling our current foreign policy seems a bit more pressing. I find the insinuation that we can only investigate Trump if we investigate Hillary at the same time to be a frustrating false equivalence. And if Hillary WAS president I'm sure we would be knee deep in investigations on the matter.

I think people were less disturbed by the notion of any arbitrary world power influencing our election as they were with a nefarious russia interfering.

Ukraine is not a super power. Ukraine has like .0000000001% ability to influence a US election. Hillary could bribe every member of ukrainanian media and parliament and itd never come close to the capability of Russia at meddling. Idiotic comparison
brainbomb (290 D)
13 Jul 17 UTC
The comparison would be like if Joe murdered someone and Larry murders 1000 people and you said "while durt durr theyre both murderers. Lock em up hurr durr. These two are equivalent obv. *smokes crack pipe*"

The other problem with the argument is that desire to collude is not the same as actuly doing it

FFS, Clinton has been investigated for decades by the right wing conspiracy machine and never a damn thing has ever been shown.

As the saying goes "I am building my Mexico wall out of Hillary Clinton's emails, the one substance in the universe apparently no one can get over."

The US has nuclear weapons. We got silos and shit all over Montana/ND and SD. Who are we to say that North Dakota is not entitled to secede and have their own nuclear arsenal?

i think we all understand the implications of this: twitter is a digital forum open to the public, but it's also privately operated and it has set rules. the decision on this case is going to have sweeping effects on the internet and internal law alike
