Nanar
For those of you unfamiliar with the term, Nanar basically means that something is so bad it's good. The purpose of this thread is to share works (movies, tv series, etc...) that are so bad they are good so we can all enjoy a hearty laugh. I will start by suggesting INFERNO COP! a roughly 40 minute long web series which fits this idea so well. From the Beginning: http://tinyurl.com/qfgz62j

Search an Destroy
Any interest in a special sort of game of Diplomacy?

The basic idea is that before the game starts, the players are designated a target among them that they must take out. The game will be anonymous, so it will take communication, intuition, and assumption to win for the board. The target can not say when they are defeated, and have the objective of surviving through any means possible, especially convincing other players that other powers are the target. If the board agrees that the target has been eliminated, they can either draw or carry on with the match (the latter is assuming that the game did not progress far). If the target survives until the end, they win. If the target is defeated, the player that took his last SC is the winner (to instill a little more competition among the board). If more than one player finishes off the target in the same year, the powers that took those last centers tie. The target can't tie, they must win (soloing or drawing) or lose. Who would be in on this?
TrPrado (461 D)
20 Dec 14 UTC
Update: the title should say Search and Destroy, not Search an Destroy.

It sounds fun but don't count me unless I magically get some points soon (hint: not happening). But sounds fun.
So, kind of like Mafia on a Dip board?
TrPrado (461 D)
20 Dec 14 UTC
Kind of. There's no GM to call the game when target dies; the only way to know is by ending the game, and the more players are on the map when the end is called, the higher chance that the target wins.

TrPrado (461 D)
21 Dec 14 UTC
W-What did James just do? And multiple targets based on variant sounds like a good idea. I was considering that to get the game rolling faster. This also sounds like public press to me. Or would people for some reason prefer this to be full press.
JamesYanik (548 D)

public press and maybe 36-48 hour phases

mendax (321 D)

TrPrado (461 D)
21 Dec 14 UTC
A player is randomly selected from those who wish to play to be the target. All of the players are aware of who was selected as target (or we can change that). A private anonymous game of either full or public press is created to house the match. The objectives are as follows:
Board:
Figure out which power is played by the target(s), and take him out. Whichever member of the board group takes the last SC of the target(s) wins, and the other board members lose. Backstabs will be necessary to prevent loss, and they may result in changing people's mind on who target(s) is. If two or more players finish off a target, they tie. Ties do not constitute as wins. If everyone is agreed that the target(s) has successfully been eliminated, the board can then either draw or carry on with a match of Diplomacy. If multiple targets were in the game and were each finished off by a different player, they each win.
Target(s):
Survive. Convince the board that you are actually not the target. If you can make it to the end, you are the winner. If more than one target makes it to the end, the surviving targets all win.
A random number generator will be used to determine targets unless volunteers arise.

I'd rather cancel the game once the objective has been complete, rather than draw or play it out.
TrPrado (461 D)
21 Dec 14 UTC
You won't know if you've won until the game has been completed and the names are revealed, and only the target should know which country they were. I don't see a cancel going very well.
LeinadT (146 D)
21 Dec 14 UTC
Yeah, I'm in. I should get points fairly soon, so that's not a worry.

I like the idea of only the target knowing anything about who the target is, where it's completely a guessing game for everyone else.

I'm up for a variant, I'll join
Yoyoyozo (65 D)

"All of the players are aware of who was selected as target"
I don't think this is a good idea. Won't the target just get killed off first thing?

It wouldn't really be "search and destroy" itd just be "destroy" or as A JamesYanik would say "jelly his throbbing cock down the target's throat"
mendax (321 D)
21 Dec 14 UTC
Say I was the target. They you'd know "mendax" was the target, but not which country I was playing.
Yoyoyozo (65 D)
21 Dec 14 UTC
Ah, okay. And I assume that asking/attemping to identify one's self is against the rules.
TrPrado (461 D)
21 Dec 14 UTC
You can ask, but it would be a really stupid idea for the target to admit that they're target.
LeinadT (146 D)
21 Dec 14 UTC
@Mendax: true, but it would be easier to figure out, for an astute player. Mannerisms in play and speech that an experienced detective-type player can figure out easily.

@Yoyoyozo: I would imagine it's legal to ask, but one could very easily lie. Identifying oneself as the target would be ridiculous, and thus probably not done.
Yoyoyozo (65 D)
21 Dec 14 UTC
But could use process of elimination:
We have the list of players that are playing:
1. TrPrado
2. Yoyoyozo
3. JamesYanik?
4. LeinadT?
5. mendax
6. KingCyrus
everyone who isn't a target will just identify themself normally. But the target will have to lie and impersonate another player. lets say im the target. I will have to impersonate someone, like mendax. So there will be two "mendaxs" for example. All we would have to do is kill both of us. Not really fun.
LeinadT (146 D)
21 Dec 14 UTC
^This is exactly why we should do it as I said: only the target themselves knows anything about who the target is.

So in my late night perusing of youtube I managed to find these two videos:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZPHSXUS0_1c https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T8UqdPKbpWM and it got me thinking. Is America truly exceptional right now? (My inclination is no) and if not, what can we do to be such? Please discuss (with politness and civility).
