The Last Damn NFL Thread (Until the Next One, Of Course)
http://www.sfgate.com/sports/article/Does-Seahawks-win-mean-49ers-are-second-best-5201416.php So...we all know that was about as big an ass-kick as you'll ever see in the Super Bowl (tied for the 3rd biggest blowout with the 52-17 beat down the '92 Cowboys gave the Bills.) They're talking (OH GOD NO!) *DYNASTY* in Seattle...buy it? Buy the 49ers as the #2 team? (Thanks, Richard Sherman.) :p What about Cam's Panthers? Is the AFC toast? What's your takeaway?

Coca-Cola
I bet they are panicking right now. They lost the trailer park market. It's a real shame that the far-right has to bash them for promoting diversity instead of respecting them for their abhorrent labor practices and terrible environmental record.

I don't know how people can drink soda every day. I drank a bottle of coke the other day after not having it for a few weeks and I felt gross all day.

Orange juice in the morning and water throughout the rest of the day. Not bottled, either. Nalgene bottles are the best thing ever. I also throw in some of the Gatorade powder stuff for workouts.

I personally can't stand Coke or Pepsi at all. I just think it tastes bad...

OJ has too much sugar for me. I live on tea: green tea, herbal tea, black teas, red/rooibos, white tea, you name it (except chamomile - nasty shit).

I recently found a milk that has had the carbs reduced. It is real milk, but only has 3 carbs in 8 ounces (all sugars, but regular milk is 13 carbs and 12 sugars per 8 ounces). Combined with some low carb ice cream, sugar free syrup, and some cholesterol free egg whites, it makes a great milkshake. And it is perfectly drinkable as is. Tastes like somewhere between skim and 1%.

See, the one thing about irrational bigoted reactions to things is that they often have little to no substance among those spewing them. Coke will come out on top of this with minimal if any harm to their market consumer base.
bo_sox48 (5202 DMod(G))

You should try the east coast famous coffee milk, Draug... it's fabulous.

@y2k ... of course they will, it's Coke. If the fact that their products incessantly rot your teeth and gum line doesn't make people avoid them, or the many other easy criticisms of their corporation, translating the words of Katherine Bates (who, by the way, was a lesbian that left the Republican Party because of their anti-immigration stance) isn't going to do anything.

Then again, maybe the people that reacted so harshly will now avoid Chick-fil-A and Coke, since Chick-fil-A only serves Coke products, and significantly reduce the diabetes numbers in the USA... I guess I could live with that.

The Super Bowl commercial, tendmote. Look it up and watch it, then look up the reactions. A lot of them are really funny.

I don't live in the US, and even if I did I wouldn't care about the Super Bowl. Nonetheless, I am interested to learn about US culture.

Am I correct in thinking that it has become a yearly tradition for US conservatives to kind of randomly select a commercial that is broadcast during the Super Bowl and then spend the next week denouncing it and being outraged about it? Is this tradition similar to them yearly defending Christmas against the imaginary people that wage imaginary war against Christmas, which as I understand is Merry but not a Holiday.

I may be getting some of this wrong, not living in the country myself, so please enlighten me.

Coke will be fine. This "backlash" is nearly entirely fabricated.

For energy drinks, Monster makes some great sugar free flavors. I just don't care for carbonation much, so teas and non-carbonated or minimally carbonated energy drinks work best for my taste buds.
2nd....please tell me you were joking about being a juggalo, because I know you live a short while away from the biggest juggalo gathering in the country.

As far as Coke and the SB XLVIII commercial, I personally found it to be a great commercial. How *anyone* can have a problem in the land of the free with a commercial promoting our freedom to be ourselves is beyond me, but the teabaggers must find something to bitch about.

I'm reading a French book and I can't quite figure out this sentence:
"Il fait quelques pas en arrière, hésite puis revient le corps."

I know what most of the words mean but I can't figure out the meaning of the sentence.
Anyone able and willing to translate that sentence for me?

How do people choose their politics and economics?
Do people choose their political and economic allegiances based on logic and reason?
Or do they have an innate sense of what actions they’d prefer to do or have done, and choose the political and economic philosophies that say these actions are the steps that need to be taken to solve society’s problems?
