On this site, I have spoken out about how stupid it was by Obama (one of his many, many, *many* mistakes) to speak out about Trayvon Martin. This would be no problem, if he wasn't such an important figure internationally where he makes even graver mistakes. Unbelievably stupid.

And krellin, unfortunately, is right that the fact that he did speak out on Martin, pretty much means that he will also have to comment on this particular incident...

It's really saddening to see that in a time of so many global opportunities, the world's most powerful country is headed by such an extremely misguided person.

I agree that it's hypocrisy to not speak out on this case since he did so on the Martin one, but if we expected the president to comment on every tragic murder in a country of 310 million people he wouldn't have time to do anything else. Better we get back to normal and not involve the presidency in what are really hyper-local issues.

The police officers were later found to have acted perfectly within the responsibility, as the professor had no id and could not, in fact, prove that he wasn't tryign to break in to the house until later.

Interestingly, in Australia (remember the victim is an Aussie, so it is getting ample coverage here) the race of those involved, both victim and perpetrators, is a non-issue, and attracting little commentary here, other than that of reporting how Americans are portraying the crime as a racial issue.
