"Tolstoy I think you have a lot of people wrongly pegged on their Egypt opinions." - no, I think I have them pegged perfectly. Specifically, I'm calling out goldfinger, Invictus, and bo_sox:

It's a step towards democracy. In the Arab world they seem to think "If the people voted me in, I get to do whatever the hell I want" which is what Erdogan and Morsi were doing. That is not democracy. The military is working to bring liberals, secularists, moderate Muslims and Christians all together in this process. That, I would say, is a step forward.

"There's three threads about it..."
If you notice, my thread was started first.
It's too soon to say, but this looks incredibly promising. An organized, explicitly secular and democratic movement in the Middle East? Yes please!

Kudos to the Egyptian people and, most shockingly but most importantly, the Egyptian military. Morsi is a terrible leader and hasn't even had a year but has certainly proven it already, and like Invictus says, no one has a clue what will happen. Nonetheless, I'd much rather Egypt turn into a productive, self-sustaining nation, run democratically (but not a USA puppet), than see Morsi pretend to care about the people and run a despotic fundamental-Islamist state.
