Are you sure as that means that one unit N Sea is more powerful than 2 units i.e. HOL supported by BEL??

I can't say for sure...but no it does not mean the one unit is stronger than the two. It just means that the unit in HOL cannot support an attack while it is also defending. Actually the support from BEL is useless (except if TWO units are attacking HOL). I am a little unsure because I can't remember having done it in recent past but I have a feeling that this is the case...hopefully others will weigh in.

general is right. If a supporting unit is attacked its support is lost no matter how many units support that unit.

He is also right about the support from Belgium being useful in case two units attack Holland.

What about if HOL attacks KIEL supported by RUHR & MUN, & KIEL is supported by BER. Will it succeed if HOL is attacked by N SEA??

Holland will succeed in taking Kiel. It is not affected by the attack from the North Sea as no support is cut. The fleet in the North Sea will take Holland if its move is unopposed (in this case from Belgium or Heligoland Bight).

yes, as long as no other unit moves to ruhr or Munich and cut support, and moving a unit to holland (from belgium) would ensure it wasn't taken.

Even if Holland supported North Sea to Belgium, the support from holland wouldn't work because it would be dislodged, so NS would bounce Belgium

a related issue. does a unit cut support by attacking a unit even if it is dislodged by a supported attack by two other units? eg

FRANCE: ionian sea to naples (occupied by Austria) supported by rome.
AUSTRIA: venice to rome.
FRANCE: piedmont to venice supported by tuscany.

venice moving to rome would cut the support for the move from ionian to naples. but would the successful attack on venice mean that the support would still stand because venice is dislodged?

The Austrian move from Venice to Rome WOULD NOT cut the support from Rome for the attack on Venice from Ionian, as there is a rule (look it up if you don't believe me) stating that a unit being attacked cannot cut the support of a unit supporting an attack on that unit. Therefore you would have two sets of 2 v 1 attacks on Venice, and you would actually bounce yourself out of Venice, one of those two sets of attacks would suffice as long as Austria has no other units outside of Venice to cut support. DO NOT bounce yourself, bad idea, unless you don't want venice, then it's fine.

ohh, misread that then... no the support would still be cut as the move from rome counts even though he's dislodged, trust me, i've dealt with this before (if there's something in apulia though, he has to disband and won't give you any more trouble) is it a fleet or an army, doesn't matter for your question, just gives a fuller description to the story.
