gameID=12861In the last round (spring), France was in Munich and needed to hold it to claim the area. The Munich unit had direct support from Burgundy and from an Austrian unit in Tyrolia. Germany was (understandably) trying to get Munich back so he moved on it with Kiel and supported with Berlin and Silesia.
At the same time, the Austrian unit in Ruhr was trying to take Kiel with support from the French unit in Holland. As the German unit in Kiel was moving to Munich, he wanted the fleet in Heligoland to move there [Kiel] in it's place and supported this with the fleet in Baltic Sea.
Now, this is my first game and the Austrian player's second. We're squaring up against two seasoned players of the pen and paper version of the game so they have a much firmer grasp of some of the more intricate rules. From first glance, I thought the French unit in Munich should have bounced all the German units but obviously there is some deeper, more involved rule kicking in somewhere that I don't know about, seeing as I didn't hold the area and had to disband the Munich unit. Would somebody care to tell me what that is, please? Is it because I set the Munich unit to move on Berlin instead of holding?
Thanks for your time.
