Ok so this thread is so everyoen can call me stupid...
but is it really stupid to not expect and army to be able to Retreat into one of your own territories? I had no idea someone could use a retreat move offensively! instead of retreating to their their own territory they can retreat to my supply centre?

i'm sure somewhere on the full gaem site it will tell me that's ok but seriously I think i'm quiting a game over this...

Sitter needed.
Sorry to ask for a sitter again so soon, but I'm leaving for about ten days, and I won't have a scrap of technology where I'm going. I'm only in three games, one a gunboat, the other two are in the final stages of the game, and won't really require much negotiation, I just need someone to finish them out for me. My email is in my profile, please let me know if you are interested, I leave in about 36 hours.

Is it okay to "donate" your supply centres to you ally
Personally I would never do this but I would interested to hear what other player think.
Imagine a player who realizes that he can't win, rather than see his enemy take his supply centers he gives them to his ally, including supporting his ally's movement into his SCs. Ethical or not ethical?

Queston about gameplay?
If I move my troops onto an undefended territory, I will automatically gain control, correct?

The reason I ask is that the rules never mentioned anything about capturing territory.

Can someone explain to me why anyone plays gunboat?
I mean, taking the diplomacy out of diplomacy...what's the point? I've never played a game of gunboat and it's hard for me to understand the attraction.

So, is this going to result in a "rollback" like the hacker incident several months ago in which games that have been processed will go back to before the orders were revealed so everyone can change up their submitted orders based on the new info? Also, in at least one of my games, I have changed an order or two, if there is a roll back and those orders go back to what they were, it has the potential to be a major problem on this site, not just for me...

Can anyone that knows something about how this site gets processed figure out a way to avoid such problems?
TheGhostmaker (1545 D)
14 Jun 09 UTC
The rollback there was because it was easier just to upload a backup. I'm not sure here, but we'll see.
MadMarx (36299 D(G))
14 Jun 09 UTC
However we proceed, it would be nice for a public notice of when things are fixed AND when things will start processing again, so we have a little time to make sure our orders are correct before they go through... though not sure this is possible...
mwalton (2561 D)
14 Jun 09 UTC
You are able to change your moves, now, if you want. They just won't process.
O smack! He got you good, MM...
MadMarx (36299 D(G))
14 Jun 09 UTC
Yeah, you can change your moves now, but if like the hacker incident from months ago, they reload a saved version of everyone's old orders, any changes right now will be overwritten, often times unbeknownst to the person that changed things up... Which really messes people up that don't check often, since they put in orders and then are gone for 24 hours... Anyway, just trying to be proactive about the problem beforehand since I've been bit before, I'm now twice shy...

I lost some vital moves through the screw up this morning. I'd prefer a roll back if that's an option.

Game processing has been disabled until I hear back from Dreamhost support. These things happen unfortunately, we're on shared hosting and I expect someone is doing some nonsense on the server we're on; in the past Dreamhost usually find the problem and get rid of it within 24 hr, get back to me, I extend the game times and things continue as usual.

Thanks for being patient though
