Regarding players with mentors in the tournament/asking for outside advice.

Its amazing that we have the mentors program now, but a tournament venue isn't the appropriate place to be asking for advice while the games are ongoing.
This is intended to be a test of your skill, not a test of your mentors skill.

With that said, unless I'm informed otherwise by the mod team I would like to explicitly state, that while asking your mentor for advice for an ongoing tournament game would be a rule violation. I'd encourage you to ask your mentors to look over games after they are finished and give you tips about where you went wrong and what you did correctly.

I had no plans for commentary. I’m not opposed to people discussing the tournament and games in this thread. So long as we aren’t giving players a ton of specific advice

Hmm those are fair points. To make it more face to face like. I think maybe we ban discussing ongoing games. I'd like to give people the opportunity to discuss the tournament as a whole and finished games, possibly in this thread possibly in a dedicated Discord thread.

Since you are also opposed to that MadMarx care to explain why that's worth avoiding? I'm thinking it would capture the between round chatter that takes place in tournaments

If people are going to discuss games, only the people within a tier should be allowed to discuss the games within that tier, but since new games start before old ones end (or at least that’s possible), we can’t really replicate F2F (something I personally am not looking to do)...

Are we allowed to discuss overall tournament standings within each game? Will standings be updated after each finished game? If yes and yes, that seems like plenty of discussing the tournament as it goes, but I am out of town and short on time so not overly focused on the topic...

Now that we're on the subject, the explanation in post#2 explains that cross-gaming is prohibited. Could we get a definition on that, or at least an example?

I'd assume that prohibits making promises in one game in exchange for assurances in another.

Croak has got it right. Any sort of multi game deal is prohibited. Ie. I can’t say if you don’t help me in this game I’ll stab you in the other game.

Let’s say discussing ongoing games is prohibited. I’m still thinking about the rest.

For everyone in my game (Tier 1, Game 3), I'm away January 4th to 7th. Happy to start now and take a pause but I was wondering if people might prefer to just start after I'm back so we don't break momentum so early.

For both Yonni and Wusti since I’ve allowed some games to start at I’m happy to allow yours to as well. If you’d like I can either pause the games when you need. Just PM me to remind me. Or I can extend the joining period for your games and you can leave them and rejoin them when you are ready to start
