How is anybody supposed to know if the typical americans carrying their AR-15 s into TARGET stores are there to kill them? Is it because they're dirty simple racist redneck TYPICAL americans?

On the subject of murder.
In each society there is a general consensus of what is an acceptable level, both domestically and when fighting a war.
Despite the public reaction to things like school shootings I don't think the murder rate is anywhere near the level where US Congress would feel the need for serious arms legislation, after all it is not the actual gun or knife that is doing the killing, someone is actually pulling the trigger.
There is a fantastic film by Quentin Tarantino that seeks to highlight the celebrity culture that surrounds killers, you become very infamous by committing acts of extreme violence. I don't think the media mean to do this but they are competing for ratings and will go to great lengths to capture footage that will shock and horrify as it boosts audience which boosts ratings which boosts advertising revenue which boosts profits which boosts income which boosts wages and bonuses.
In this there is a bigger question, why are there so many people living in a society that extolls the virtues of freedom and democracy that want to go on murderous rampages, in so many cases against innocent children.
I think there is a level where the govt may turn around and say "enough is enough" and that would only be when the public stop voting for people who support the gun/violence culture.
In my opinion the USA have a great tolerance of many types of violence, it is seen tacitly as acceptable. Maple makes a very serious point in a very offensive way but as is proved in this thread that seems to be the way to get peoples attention. How many more people/children would have to be massacred/executed before the majority of American citizens campaigns and votes for change?
Whatever the number I am not convinced that the society is ready yet for the fundamental changes that would lead to significant reductions of murder in the USA, it is a bit like saying that you loathe obesity but would never consider eating less food.
I don't defend Maple but he is not trying to glorify murder, he is trying to prick your conscience, don't shoot the news boy if you don't like what you see in the paper.

If I believed even a little that he wasn't partially serious about being happy at these deaths I would have be trying to convince him to express his views in a less vulgar way. But he doesn't, he's just trolling, so don't waste your effort actually trying to have a real conversation about the topic. Not in this thread anyways.
