Yellowstone is awesome. Staring out from the steep side of Half Dome is amazing.

No, that is ridiculous. For starters, the Iowa class didn't have the speed to close with any fleet carrier built after 1940, so they would never be able to get within range. But more importantly, both the Yamato and the Musashi - who were better armored than the Iowa class - were both sunk by carrier aircraft.

bo - what I find amazing about Yellowstone is that you can be in the midst of roccky cliffs, mountains and valleys...and then find yourself in a grassy plain on top of the mountain...or a huge lake...the diversity of the landscape and wildlife is stunning...finding streams full of colorful slime molds growing in volcanic water...gorgeous waterfalls...and I only saw a small portion of the park.

If only we could get some more loggers in there to create a better view....lol

Fair enough, but, the "ooh, he's your girlfriend" gambit is played out. It comes off as kind of lazy. Come up with something truly incisive. Show us that famous Krellin venom.

Hey hey GF you won't get any arguments from me along those lines. There is definitely something majestic and awesome about late-era ships of war. I get the same feeling.

I have heard negative things about the Iowa-class museum ship tours. Apparently they are not nearly as extensive as the USS North Carolina tour was. All of the Iowa-class ships are required by law to be kept in a state of readiness (including the continued stockpiling of unique parts and munitions such as 16"/50 cal shells and propellant bags) if they have to be reactivated in the event of a national emergency, so obviously many areas of the ship are off-limits to tourists. But that's okay with me. Hell, I'd reactivate a couple of them just for the fear factor. *Everyone* is scared shitless by a giant World War Two veteran that's nearly impervious to conventional weapons and can rain 2,700 pound projectiles up to 24 miles away *indefinitely*, to say nothing of the Tomahawk and Harpoon missiles aboard.

The only warship I've ever seen was in a museum in Israel and it was nothing compared to United States warships.
