Hello everyone,
I suppose you'd say I'm a new face around here, but not a new face to Diplomacy. I'm often on other online Dip websites (er, sorry!) but am now reaching out across all the ones I know about to try to organize a few Face-to-face Diplomacy games in New York City.
A little about myself: My name is Robert, a Harlem resident but Queens (Howard Beach, for any locals out there) native. I've hosted several F2F games at my apartment in recent years, and I've always wondered why there is no formal, "proper" Diplomacy group in the most populated city in America. All I have found have been inactive meetup.com groups and the like.
Well, I'm hoping to change that by organizing some locals around a few good 'foundation' games and hopefully bring to NYC something that they've managed to do wonderfully in Chicago.
For sake of... my laziness, I'm simply going to copy-and-paste the post I put on another website here, so that you can have more info on the first game that I happen to be organizing, which will be happening over the weekend of the 16-18. Time and date are flexible for me so that the most number of people can be accommodated.

Okay guys,
Time to try another shot at a face-to-face game in Manhattan. It worked the first time, and didn't the second or third times, so let's see if we can pull something together now.
I'm open all weekend from the 16th to the 18th (Friday through Sunday)... I prefer a Saturday or Sunday game because there will be more time to play during the day, which might be better for people that live outside the city. Something like 12PM works for me, but like I said I'm open and flexible.
I'm offering my apartment in Harlem to host it -- it's easy to get to by mass transit, being by the A,C,2,3,4, and 6 lines (the 2/3 line is literally right around the block from me), and it's even easier to get to by car -- about 7 minutes from the GWB, 5 minutes from the RFK, two blocks away from the onramp/offramp of the FDR Drive. About a 10 minute crosstown trip from the Hudson River Drive if you're coming from that way -- easier to cross the island in Harlem ;).
If getting back the same day is an issue (drinking, late-running game, etc.) I've got enough room for two people to stay overnight.
I'm also trying on Meetup.com to see if we can get one or two from there, and I'll ask my friends to fill in any gaps if we should have them -- All I really need is 2-3 people from this site minimum and we can get a game together. The more from here the merrier though -- it's always more fun with people that don't know each other.
So let's see who's interested and we can work out any more details. Any takers?

So there's the pitch. If you are a local and you are interested in playing, or at least would like to be kept in mind for future games, please do feel free to send me an email at
[email protected] and I'll be very happy to hear from you! :)
(Also, for those who are perhaps better connected around here than I have, if you happen to know some people that might be interested that you think would want to be contacted, it would be a great favor if you could pass along their contact info to me -- email is probably best -- I haven't figured out if there are private messages on this website between members, or how it's done if there are!)
Thanks for your time and patience in reading this. I hope that this is the beginning of something great in New York. Talk to you soon!
