What is a process cycle?

I have been jumping into some live games and when 7 players join the "game will start on next process cycle" notice comes up. Usually this is no big deal. I just jumped into one that doesn't start for 1:35. When does the process cycle come up?

I'm pretty sure it means that the game will start in 1:35.
In the past games started as soon as 7 players joined, but this meant that often people missed the first few phases of live games.

Exactly, and that's why it was changed.
Previously you would have had to, just incase someone joined and it started.

The game is taking a particularly long time to start. It should have started at the first 5 minutes interval, no?

I don't know. We may be stuck. Whenever I start 5 min games I start in 30 min. It usually works out all right.

No thanks. That one starts Mon at 10 am. And once 7 join you are stuck.

No, jimgov, it starts as soon as 7 join. The reason why ours isn't starting isn't because the deadline is in one hour.

I'm not sure of the details, but I believe there is a cut-off phase length, with games above starting immediately, and games below waiting for the timer.

Live games (ender a certain phase length) don't start until the join "phase" expires, in this case 3:45. But you should have been able to leave the game as it hasn't started. I think that is a design flaw that you can't leave when the game hasn't actually started.

You can, but not once the players have been set. That delay has come in because life gamer's requested it, but I agree its not fully integrated. I believe an improved version is being written in, but I'm not certain.
re Jim: well, still a good result to get even if the game was a little dodgy.

Looking to start a Live Game in 5 hours

Awesome, simply awesome. I saw it in 2

first and was so impressed I went back to see it in 3

. It is fantastic. The 3

effects extend to the computer displays the characters are using - they have depth too. And what appeared to be "normal" photos on a wall in the 2

version were given depth too. Amazing!

Variant Map Discussions

Where is the best place to go to discuss variant maps, either the variant itself or the implementation? If we're testing out the variant maps, it would make sense to have somewhere to go to discuss issues with the implementation or the variant itself.
