Isn't that how conversations work already, by definition? I'm on several racing forums where we all race a lot, but we almost never actually talk about racing...

I try to stay vague until I narrow exactly what I want so I don't narrow other options. I'm favoring as a start to infer from a TTC (The Teaching Company) lecture and self analyze it with other people taking the same course. We read each others take on the subject and expound, explore, and saturate ourselves in it. My most effective learning was in such situations and that is my intent. To learn with other people, learn from, and carry it in a long term fashion. When I read, study, and dive into a topic alone, sure I retain the concepts, but the jargon dissipates more quickly than utilizing it in conversations with others for even a slight extended period of time.

@NPRZ: Yes that's true but in a blog type setting, that type of flow isn't natural. Without it too many tangents and off topic conversations will start. Nothing wrong with that but one of my reasons for doing this is I get enough of that and want to better my foundation of extensive knowledge.

I am listening to a TTC course at the moment, " The Art of Critical Decision Making". It is very interesting. I just finished "The History of the English Language" which was produced by The Modern Scholar, that was also excellent. Highly recommended.

I've completed many of their courses and recommend them. I have come across a few professors whose teaching style irked me a bit but this is why I test before I buy anything.

Sayjo, that's exactly the reason I told my wife the other day that she's looking for forum software, not blog software. You go to blogs to see what the author thinks. You go to forums (better than this one, software-wise) to actually converse...

@NPRZ: I'm more a fan of a blog style but yes more of a forum type of conversation. I do however want some of the blog fundamentals incorporated such as a personal one where I can have my own analyzations posted. Is there some sort of hybrid that can suit this preference or is this not a common enough request? I can't seem to find anything but I wasn't blog friendly before and took forever to look into the different types.

I run quite a few phpBB forums. Super easy to install and maintain, very flexible. The dev forum for phpDiplomacy is phpBB, too. Many forums have a locked down section where only the site owners or moderators can post news or announcements or whatever -- this sounds like a fit for what you're describing.
