Haha. Biddis, it's a varient of the popular boardgame Mornington Crescent. This has been around since Roman Times (there's a great book written about it c.2001 detailing full history).

Mornington Crescent is a fictional game which forms part of the BBC Radio 4 comedy / quiz show "I'm Sorry I Haven't A Clue".

The purpose of the "Mornington Crescent" section of the programme is to make listners think that the contestants are playing a board game based on a map of the London Underground train network, in which you have to be the first player to move from a given starting point to your destination of Mornington Crescent station. In fact however there is no board, no rules, and no game at all. The contestants seek to amuse the audience by making up funny 'rules' and by generally imitating the banter of people playing a board game.
