My two cents:
Background: I have a BA in History, and an MBA.
Why do I have a BA in History? Because when I transferred from the JC, that is what I had the most units in
Why do I have an MBA? Because once I got my BA, I realized that it was pretty much worthless in the job market. Fortunately, I only needed a Bachelor's Degree to get into the MBA program, not one with a business concentration.
As other people have said, your college goals should depend on your end goal. My brother is a game programmer, and fairly highly compensated, but his career has pretty much plateued, both because he doesn't have the skills to get *out* of the code monkey arena - and because he doesn't have the desire to be a suit.
IMO, if you're looking for any kind of 'standard' degree, you're wasting money going to a big name campus for the first two years. Trig is Trig no matter where you learn it, and as long as the credits transfer, getting them at a smaller campus is just the same as a biggun. I grant you the difference in instructors, but *my* favorite instructors - meaning the ones I felt I learned the most from - were at my JC.
