himethisisme, Arkaalis and Neryth
himethisisme and Arkaalis are in 4 games together and if you look at their history they always work together. Friends in real life? Or the same person? Also, Neryth is in 3 of their games too, and likewise always an ally. Neryth has only been in 3 games total thus far.

Check out France's navy in this past game and note how it passes through the Mediterranean and helps out the Italians/Turks in Greece.

Uber Win
Say you were playing a PPSC game, the pot is 34, and you win with 20 supply centers. Do you get 20 pionts for that game?
And what was the biggest win ever on this site? It'd be cool to see someone win with 20+ SCs.

retreat rule
hey-- i just got burned by what i feel is a lame loophole in the retreat rule. i had armies side by side in burgundy, ruhr, and kiel, moving east from france. on the same turn, i took munich with ruhr supported by burgundy, and berlin with kiel supported by baltic.

basically, it was 2 side-by-side armies moving forward at one time in a wall. but when i did this, my opponent was given the option of retreating right through the middle of my two consecutive armies-- he ended up in kiel, behind my lines. i don't think this is the spirit of the retreat rule!

Hope I'm not just whining needlessly (although I probably am). But it seems to me like a quick tweak in the rule could make this much more logical, realistic, and intuitive. A steady wall of armies moving forward shouldn't allow a retreat to slip in between them.

That obviosuly isn't a stead wall. A steady wall would mean you follow kiel up with a piece that came from Holland or something of the liking. This makes perfect sense seeing as how Kiel is evacuated for instance and those attacked in Munich see the empty territory and decide to dispatch their remaing troops there.
Alqazar (403 D)

Thats not a loophole. The army in Munich retreated to Kiel because it was open. If you had an unit there he wouldn't have been able to move there. You should have kept your army in Kiel and supported the Baltic into Berlin.

i see that kiel was open there, and i understand what you're saying-- that if i had followed from behind into kiel, he couldn't have retreated there. i just think in real life, an army wouldn't be able to squeeze through. kiel and ruhr are moving at the same time; kiel isn't evacuated until munich is routed. they wouldn't "see the empty territory" and kiel isn't "open"; they'd see a second army moving forward from kiel towards berlin, right in front of their face. oh well; i guess i just lose.
You realize that an army is 1/2 mile wide, and the provide of Kiel is probably a few hundred miles wide?

and you realize this is a game emulating real life... not real life.
(that should say 'province', not 'provide')

You mean I don't need to feel guilty about killing those armies? :p

to answer your (implied) original question, junior... yes, I think it is in the spirit of the rules. A retreat can certainly be used as an offensive maneuver. In fact, you can sometimes manipulate your opponents into giving your army or fleet a free move during the retreat phase.

Retreats are powerful, and most certainly can (and should) be used to slip through invading forces whenever possible.
Chalks (488 D)

and yes. I refer to "retreats" as "free moves". ;)
figlesquidge (2131 D)

Using retreats in this way has been a tactic well back into history, often used to lure an enemy unit into a trap, but equally if you can get an enemy to attack you in the wrong location, you can go straight past...

Leaving the game early?
How do you leave a game early? I see where there are options to take over for someone... how do you do that? Leave that is?

I found myself in one of those long hours between phases maps that I can't stand. (I know... pay attention before joining, but I can't afford it.)

Did I get a raw deal?
So I was off to a great start in this game: http://phpdiplomacy.net/board.php?gameID=8184
and all of a sudden, around spring of '03, Austria starts evacuating it's SC's in favor of Turkey. Am I being a whinny-butt, or did I get a raw deal?

Secret Draw?
Akin to the anonomous hold of the US Senate, wouldn't it be more interesting if we didn't know who was holding up the draw?
I think this could potentially cut down on draws and helps players go for the win without making it totally clear they are going for the win.
