Oh Ogion, I actually tried to reach across the political divide to that clown. Despite our political differences, we had a reasonably civil discussion about sports, baseball in which he has formidable knowledge compared to me, and cricket which is a game I love. Particularly the intricacies of pitching & bowling.
On the basis of that I thought we might go further, but alas no. Even though I publicly conceded an error on my part, there was absolutely no effort towards conciliation on his part, just increased demands, excessive dogmatism, and quite frankly, absolutely no respect from him, in fact hostility and disrespect, in my opinion.
It's the old story, fanaticism in it's ugly nakedness, imho.
So, I learn from it, a most lamentable experience.
With regard to the thread topic. I think the UN has increased it's support for Uganda in recognition of the way Uganda is treating this huge influx of refugees. One cannot help thinking what the "dog whistlers" & xenophobic extremists in other nations who have reacted most outrageously to comparative trickles of refugees would be doing if they were experiencing a similar flood of oppressed refugees entering their backyards. ( then ponce off to be pompously pious as fake Christians, or fakes of other "faiths"). Let me express a clear recognition of, and differentiation from those many thousands, tens of thousands +++ of genuine Christians & members of other faiths who do actually practice compassion for the less fortunate people in the world. As well as those humanists and others who need no faith in a God to practice compassion.
