Remove the no orders/saved/ready icons
There are 10 minutes to go and still !! is shown next to a country. It's probably going to NMR. This allows countries around it to make moves that they normally wouldn't confident that the sensible supports and moves to SCs won't take place. Which unbalances the game.

If the icons were removed then it is less obvious that an NMR is about to happen. Is there a reason for the icons that I'm missing?

CD vs NMR
I'm looking at my CD's and NMR's, and I noticed that in one game that I had a Civil Disorder, it gave me 12 NMR's, another CD 3 NMR's, and then the rest of my CD's I have 0 NMR's. Can anyone explain how this works and why there's such a huge discrepancy on this? And is this also a "double jeopardy" against my Reliability Rating to count NMR's and CD's from the same game? This part has always confused me. Thanks!

New Zealand has a new Prime Minister
Labour did a full coalition deal with our weird centrist version of UKIP, so that'll be interesting. Greens to make up the numbers with confidence and supply in exchange for policy concessions and ministers outside of cabinet. I for one am cautiously optimistic about the coalition of chaos.

Refugees.. Does Uganda treat refugees better than many wealthy Nations ?
More refugees from South Sudan entered Uganda in the last 12 months than entered Europe. Uganda allows them to enter, to work, gives many a small plot of land to farm. To appease locals in regional areas where refugees settle the Government allocates 30% of aid to local communities. My own Nation, Australia, a relatively wealthy nation treats some refugees well, but others with harsh treatment, incarceration in detention camps.
MajorMitchell (1874 D)

Refugees in the millions across the world, mass poverty, yet global corporations dodge taxes on an iniquitous scale. A small minority control vast wealth globally. Some extremely wealthy people are generous philanthropists. But they are the exception, not the majority of their class. How do we collectively do better ? Do we even want to try ?
Is it time for other Nations to help Uganda to a greater extent ? Increase foreign aid to Uganda. Increase investment in Uganda ? Should the United Nations increase it's efforts to resolve the crisis in South Sudan ?
How does the way "your Nation" treat refugees compare with Uganda ? How much foreign aid does your nation "give" ? Has that been increasing or decreasing ?

Errr, Kansas I have just attended to that about an hour or so ago and explained that I had a real world commitment that I think even you might concede, justifiably took priority..helping to protect several of your fellow citizens of the USA and one in particular during part of their visit to sunny Australia.

Poor old Malcolm Turnbull.. He's in more trouble than a long tailed cat in a room full of rocking chairs at the moment.
Kevin Andrews & Tony Abbott publicly criticising his leadership.. Again. The embarrassment of the distasteful leak about Minister Josh Frydenburg's possible Hungarian "dual citizenship" coming from inside the Federal Liberal Party, Frydenburg is a Turnbull supporter so that leak is more about destabilising Turnbull's leadership than anything else.
Hugely disturbing complaints about the treatment of refugees on Manus island by former doctor employed there. The doctor is a highly respected former Australian Defence Forces "medico". I saw his TV interview. Minister Peter Dutton is, in my opinion, "quite a nasty piece of work" and it's my opinion that it is highly probable that Minister Dutton has been evasive and disingenuous with the Australian public in the least, and it's much more likely in my opinion that he has been repeatedly untruthful with the Australian public.

To respond to your initial point MM, it is not unusual fir those with less to be more generous than those with more.

I have no figures to back this up, but I would imagine that Uganda is land-rich and cash-poor. It therefore makes sound economic sense to encourage refugees to use otherwise redundant land. Bribing the local residents with aid windfalls is politically quite shrewd too.

I applaud Uganda's initiative. However, most First World nations would have neither the opportunity, budget or inclination to do the same thing.
KansasBoyd (25 DX)

I see MM still can’t answer the question posed to him weeks ago now that he said he’d answer but never could. Instead choosing personal attacks and using a public forum to try and influence a game in one of the pettiest displays I’ve ever seen from a ‘man’.

I did you cork brained clown Kansas Boyd, and if you'd bothered to read the post instead of being a whiny petulant idiot you would have read my admission that I accepted that you had not made a statement about media bias that I mistakenly claimed you had, although when I criticised it, you defended it. Secondly since my post admitting my error, you egregiously misquoted me in a PM. And refuse to admit that you did. So where I recognised my error publicly and offered an apology, YOU, behaving in the manner of a hypocrite of the most damnable type, deny any error in your part and instead continue to whine about not getting a reply that satisfies your delicate bloody ego. And you used an offensive, misogynistic sexist term of abuse in a PM to me.
You're NOT FIT TO BE TRUSTED in my opinion. NOT EVEN AS A BLOODY GROCER'S DELIVERY CLERK, let alone with a weapon in a firefight, as in my opinion, you're more likely to shoot yourself or one of your colleagues than the real enemy. In my opinion, YOU'RE NOT EVEN FIT TO BE TRUSTED TO BRING UP SUPPLIES, A BLOODY GROCERY DELIVERY CLERK'S JOB. You'd get the hand grenades mixed up with bloody fruit buns and turn up with a box of bloody oranges instead of mortar rounds. YOU ARE DISMISSED. Piss off and annoy someone else.
KansasBoyd (25 DX)
06 Nov 17 UTC
Yawn.

You doubled down in the PM exchange refusing to provide FACTS that most American media wasn’t biased towards the liberals instead going off on some bizarre barely coherent fantasy of some job instead of addressing the question at hand.

And then pathetically tried to influence a game I’m playing in publicly which amounts to meta gaming which you are a couple other profs have engaged in which is a clear violation of the site rules.
MajorMitchell (1874 D)
06 Nov 17 UTC
May I diplomatically inform you that it is against Site Rules to make an accusation of cheating in a forum post. This is clearly explained in the Help section, in the Rules. The correct procedure for making any and all queries, allegations, expressions of suspicions etc of cheating is also clearly explained in the Rules. I would diplomatically ask that if wish to make any allegation of that type about me, that you do so by sending an email to the Almighty Mods and not by making allegations in a Forum post.
I think the email address is [email protected], but as a self appointed expert in the Rules you will undoubtedly know the correct email address. You can of course check the help/rules page and find the correct email address there.

My personal advice would be to quickly post an unreserved withdrawal of your, in my opinion, distasteful, vexatious & malicious allegation immediately. An unreserved apology might be worth considering as well. But I leave that to your judicious (HA) discretion.
MajorMitchell (1874 D)

I refute your allegation that I have engaged in Metagaming. The particular game on which I referred to in that Forum post is not a gunboat game. It is a public, non anonymous game, and is a School of War game.

MM, might I humbly recommend muting. It works wonders.

And yes, they're more generous than SOME rich countries, but others, mostly in Europe are considerably more generous than others.
MajorMitchell (1874 D)
06 Nov 17 UTC
Oh Ogion, I actually tried to reach across the political divide to that clown. Despite our political differences, we had a reasonably civil discussion about sports, baseball in which he has formidable knowledge compared to me, and cricket which is a game I love. Particularly the intricacies of pitching & bowling.
On the basis of that I thought we might go further, but alas no. Even though I publicly conceded an error on my part, there was absolutely no effort towards conciliation on his part, just increased demands, excessive dogmatism, and quite frankly, absolutely no respect from him, in fact hostility and disrespect, in my opinion.
It's the old story, fanaticism in it's ugly nakedness, imho.
So, I learn from it, a most lamentable experience.

With regard to the thread topic. I think the UN has increased it's support for Uganda in recognition of the way Uganda is treating this huge influx of refugees. One cannot help thinking what the "dog whistlers" & xenophobic extremists in other nations who have reacted most outrageously to comparative trickles of refugees would be doing if they were experiencing a similar flood of oppressed refugees entering their backyards. ( then ponce off to be pompously pious as fake Christians, or fakes of other "faiths"). Let me express a clear recognition of, and differentiation from those many thousands, tens of thousands +++ of genuine Christians & members of other faiths who do actually practice compassion for the less fortunate people in the world. As well as those humanists and others who need no faith in a God to practice compassion.
MajorMitchell (1874 D)
06 Nov 17 UTC
I'd assume the actions of the UN towards Uganda are strongly influenced by those European nations and others that you mentioned Ogion. This chappy in France, "Le Macron" appears to be pushing France's "foreign policy" in Africa in proactive and encouraging ways.
KansasBoyd (25 DX)
06 Nov 17 UTC
I think you are confusing ‘increased demands, excessive dogmatism’ with repeated attempts for you to validate how the US media is not mostly comprised of liberal bias.

Which you ignored and strawmanned into ridiculous stories of your personal life instead of just answering quite frankly an extremely simple question.

If my question went above your abilities, I apologize and can try and attempt to rephrase it in a way that would match your ability if you prefer.
KansasBoyd (25 DX)
06 Nov 17 UTC
Sorry that you compare ‘fanaticism’ with a simple request to answer a very straightforward and easy question that unfortunately had to be asked time and time again without answer.

MajorMitchell (1874 D)

I'm not the fool who made a cheating allegation in a forum thread then failed to follow through with it via the proper channels. Nor am I the fool who threw the juvenile MM has a tiny shrivelled penis jibes in PMs. Overcompensating for self perceived inadequacies were you ????
I've busted you for making untruthful statements and hypocrisy.
You called me a something so offensive i won't repeat it in a forum post, twice in PMs, so I'm outing you as, imho, a pathetic blighter who uses misogynistic, offensive, sexist language and perhaps more importantly, sees nothing wrong in that.
I'm far from perfect, and I won't bother the Almighty Mods with this at this point. But if one happens to read this and get curious..let the chips fall where they do and you and I can both wear the consequences for our separate actions.

The US and most European countries have a long history of poor refugee treatment. Trump is cutting back on the numbers allowed into the US and there have always been numerical quotas on how many can come from each country to keep out undesirables.

Switzerland before WW II dumped them into labor camps with Swiss precision. The Arab countries still have Palestinian refugee camps 70 years after they opened them.
