XORXES, the undisputed king of GR and the captain of the ‘Rest of the World’ team in the 1v1 Ryder Cup, qualified for the final through the Winners’ Bracket two months ago when he emerged victorious in the semi-final against Mercy. He has had an absolutely incredible run, winning almost every set 2-0; only dropping one game over the course of the tournament (against mscott in Round 3).
After finishing in second place in the Spring Champion’s League, he’s looking to make the Showdown his first 1v1 tournament win. He has a very good chance at it too - as the tournament is Double Elimination and he has yet to be defeated, he has 2 ‘Lives’ going into the Final. He’s the bookies’ favourite - but there’s always the chance of an upset!
MERCY will be the other finalist, having just emerged as victor of the Losers’ Bracket after defeating Goldfinger0303 2-0. Initially seeded 78th, he was a massive underdog from the start and just kept pulling off upset after upset, getting all the way to the semifinals before falling in the match against xorxes. Of the top 12 players, 4 of them were sent to the Losers’ Bracket by Mercy, which shows the high class of competition he was faced with throughout - he’ll be looking to make that 5 by beating xorxes twice here.
With 1500 diplomacy points and the title of Showdown Champion on the line, it’s all to play for.
