For Libs only - cool article
http://www.charlotteobserver.com/news/politics-government/article136940273.html

This is the story from Rachel Maddow a few days ago, talking about the Russian jet parked next to Trump's jet in Charlotte just before the election. The Russian is a billionaire, part owner of Bank of Cyprus. Of course, you recall that Wilbur Ross is an investor in the Bank of Cyprus. Maybe it's just a coincidence. Maybe it's MURDERRRRRRRR!

Reliability Rating Determination
How is RR determined? As I figure it by NMR/Moves it should be 99. if by CD/Finished it should be 97. Either way it should be above 95. Even the average of the two would be 98. CD: 5. NMR / received: 46/4783
RR: 95% breakdown. Total (finished): 202

Why does life have value in your opinions?
Sorry if this is a weird question but I'm interested in hearing other's perspectives. Is it determined by their potential for happiness, intelligence, and/ or other talents? Does the value of someone's life fluctuate as they get older/ gain experience/ relationships, and/ or based on their actions? Are human lives worth more than other animals and if so why? Does a life inherently have value? Discuss.

Why do veterans get a "public option" for services at the VA?
With all the hospitals to choose from, isn't it wasteful to prop up the VA which is so fraught with problems? Conservatives, you hated the public option when the ACA was being legislated. Why is it ok for veterans? Is it just welfare for conservatives?

Ireland's tragic history of mixed race 'illegitimate' babies
If you don't know the tragic story of how Ireland dealth with women who had sex and ended up pregnant without being married. Or the consequences for their children - or the abuse the faced at the hands of the Church - then this may shock you.

The Catholic church is one of the most oppressive organisations in modern history.

History of the Catholic Church in Ireland repressing people:
1944 - opposed the introduction of tampons
1950 - resisted the government's 'mother and child scheme' (which i think brought down the government)
1970 - opposed allowing Catholics studying at Trinity College (which was a protestant University)
1985 - resisted introduction of contraception (which was eventually decriminalised, and then in the 90s when students unions started giving away condoms for free - because it was still illegal to sell them, eventually the ban was lifted)
1986 - opposed a referendum on divorce
1993 - opposed decriminalisation of same-sex activity
1996 - again opposed divorce (which is now allowed only after a couple has separated for 5 years)
2005 - resisted the Ferns report investigating a history child abuse
2010 - resisted legislation which allowed civil partnership
2013 - oppose legislation which allow abortions if the mother's life is a risk from suicide (which was required by a supreme court case in 1992, but 7 consecutive governments failed to legislate for, and only happened after Savita Halappanavar died during her pregnancy while begging for an abortion - note she was not suicidal, so this legislation doesn't change much, it was just politicians wanting to be seen 'doing something
)
2015 - opposed the marriage equality referendum (where Irish people voted 2:1 to make grá the law, ie anyone who wants to get married can).

Fortunately today we have Americans funding the anti-woman organisations which support the churches position.

http://www.thejournal.ie/youth-defence-abortion-3271686-Mar2017/

For a bit of background: after the death of an Indian woman (from septic shock) while going through complications during pregnancy and begging for an abortion, (in 2013) the 21 year old issue of abortion when the mother's health/life was at risk was re-opened. And the government legislated for abortion in the case of a suicide risk.

This was not considered enough (especially given the woman in question wasn't a suicide risk, so this legislation wouldn't have saved her life) and was opposed by the church.

The new government of the day decided to partially wash its hands of the issue by setting up an independent 'citizen's assembly', to come up with recommendations for any future constitutional change. Which will eventually report back, to have out elected representatives form a committee to possibly hold a referedum in 2018 (5 years after the death of Savita - because the legislators will not do their frakking jobs, lacking political courage to oppose the church).

Meanwhile, US funding pours into Ireland because they love to refer to the one 'christian' country which outlaws abortion as some kind of example to the US that they should over-turn roe vs wade. They can't afford to lose this shining beacon.

Where in actuality we have been uncovering mass graves of dead babies, covered up by the Catholic Church authorities who the state delegated responcibility for the care of unwed mothers. I can't think of a better example to follow.

Anti-woman, in the extreme, there is no pro-life in this story.

Looking for a decent game (RR96%)
I'm looking to join a game with players that will actually play. I haven't played for a couple of years and was quickly reminded why I stopped when in Autumn 01 3 people failed to submit orders in my first game back. My RR is 96% (I'm still ashamed it's not 100% - I CD'ed once before RR was visible and didn't know it would negatively affect my stats). I prefer to play classic. Other than that, I'm not too bothered on rules or phase length. Also, I love players that "ready" often.
