Facebook Dilemma
I recently started using Facebook just to reach people I can't contact any other way.
It just occurred to me that it makes sense to friend pretty much every suggested person, even random people who added me for unknown reasons, from a PR point of view. I don't know what that does to my privacy if I do start to use it though..
Thoughts?

Fort McMurray Fire Challenge - 10 cents per diplomacy point challenge
While we may battle and discuss war from the safety of our computers. My thoughts go out to the evacuated residents of Fort McMurray (80 - 90,000) where nature has created its own war zone in a couple of days.

The life and times of Boaty McBoatface

Someone should tell the science minister that you can't censor the internet - McBoatface will live on, now matter what you out on it's 'official' naming document.

Notes?
Hi all, I hope this is the right space for such a silly question. Forgive me, please, if I'm wrong.
I'm not sure about the "Notes" among the messaging options. How does work it? Why and whom should I "Send" a Note?

Thanks a lot.

Best and Favorite Countries
I know that a lot has changed since Richard Sharp died in the game and that his book is no longer current, (like how Lepantos always get Italy killed now and how France always loses in a war in the Mediterranean, at least in the games I have seen) would anyone mind telling me what is good and not so good now?

Why Does Morality Matter?
Pretty much what the title says. We often consider the "right thing to do" when making a decision, but why do moral arguments matter? Is it due to societal structures, personal interest, definitive moral good? I'm curious about everyone's thoughts on this.

Not Especially Super Thursday
Anyone with any predictions for the election tonight? I've not been paying a huge amount of attention, but locally there's some optimism amongst Tories despite Corbyn insisting he'd lose no seats.

It honestly didn't matter what the result the media were going to spin it as badly for Labour as possible. They won London after the Tories dreadful racist campaign against Khan which apparently trip & co don't care about. They managed to only lose one English council and retained the seats in the two by-elections and did well throughout the south. They still have a commanding lead in Wales. Scottish Labour got beat badly and of course all of this will be blamed on Corbyn when Labour has been in the weeds for a while now in Scotland, really ever since the independence referendum.

You think the media were harsh to Labour? It's the first time an opposition party has failed to make gains since the 80s. You could argue that this particular round of local elections provided a more difficult target for Labour than usual, but frankly the Tories have given them so many open goals lately that Labour's lack of progress is a minor miracle.

Truth be told it's a best case scenario for the Tories. No one wanted Labour to do so badly that they'd get rid of Corbyn. London, by all accounts, was something of a cock-up. The best man won that one, and hopefully Goldie will crawl back into the hole he came out of.
Putin33 (111 D)

The media are openly trying to bait Labour into a leadership challenge, so yes. Almost uniformly the headlines are not *Labour surpasses expectations* but rather "Labour not seen as viable under Corbyn". They are digging up whatever party intrigue they can find.

In the 80s there were no devolved parliaments or major city mayorships to contest, so the comparison doesn't work. There was no Scottish referendum in the 80s which is what Europe is for Tories. The Tories did not win either of by-elections and they lost in an area of the country they are traditionally strong in, so I fail to see what all their gloating is about.
Putin33 (111 D)

*That is to say, Europe is for the Tories what Scottish independence seems to be for Labour - > an issue that creates a wedge between the party and its traditional supporters.
Octavious (2701 D)

Gloating? It's more collective sighs of relief. The Tories, when in power, except a kicking in the local elections. When in power after a series of not particularly favourable events, you expect a beating with a big stick. Politically this is the equivalent of the train managing to stop an inch before it hits you. Scotland was the icing on the cake. And we get to keep Corbyn!
Putin33 (111 D)
06 May 16 UTC
This is all rather silly. The Tories won the 2015 local elections despite being in power, and in none of the local elections since coming to power have they gotten a "kicking" in the local elections. Miliband had narrowly won the local elections from 2011-2014, and this at a time when the Lib Dem support collapsed when they were part of the coalition.

So let's all be honest and admit that the Tories, after the fact, are trying to spin away the results by claiming they should have been trounced.

Why can't I select nowhere to retreat, or disband a unit when I want?
The rules say I can elect to disband instead of retreating, but there seems no way to sav his choice in the GUI. So when I am faced with disbanding as a result of having nowhere to retreat to, I seem to have no choice but to let the clock run down, which slows down the whole game for me and all the other players.

This a cheating accusation about an ongoing live game in which I plan to degrade a group of people in a way only describable as offensive and then I plan on making multi-accounts to try to flush the cheater out only to later offer everyone fake passports for a cheap cheap price.

MOD possible bug or maybe not
I recently muted mafia (go ahead burn me in effigy) as it took up my entire forum page... instead of disappearing to reveal all the more interesting but less active threads I instead see a blank white page or 1 or 2 forum threads followed by a blank white page. Anyone else experience this?
