May 4th is also the anniversary of the Kent State shootings, but I guess remembering history isn't as cool as providing free advertising for The Walt Disney Company.
4th May is also the anniversary of the date in 1932 when Al Capone was sent to prison for tax evasion, but I don't imagine anyone on this forum thinks that anything to do with Mafia is interesting.
@trip I'm more than a little ashamed that: 1) I went to Kent State for my master's degree and in those days knew about May 4th for that reason and had never heard of the Jedi connections and 2) In the intervening years I have learned about the Jedi connection, and I have begun to consistently forget about Kent's connection to May 4th.
On a somewhat lighter note, this also marks the anniversary of the Alberta NDP's memorable election-closing campaign poster: "May the Fourth be with you. And May the Fifth, you vote."
It was effective, and, to turn back toward a more somber perspective, the NDP government is now involved in the daunting difficulty safely evacuating the entire city of Fort McMurray in the face of a massive wildfire. Happily, as far as I have read, no one has been injured or has died due to the fire or the evacuation.
May 4th is also the day when the Dutch take two minutes of silence to remember the fallen soldiers and civilians of any nationality in World War 2 and in the wars and peace operations after that.
That's some political correctness that I can actually appreciate right there.

A player has had to leave the site due to a medical emergency and he has two positions that need replacing. The games are early and the positions are decent.
I'd like there to be a double elimination tournament on webdip using an everyones a winner variant. All victory conditions at the beginning of the game are anyone who gains a supply center wins.

Someone just gave me a "Twinkie", the celebrated American processed "cake" product.
It was disgusting. Horrible, sickly, artificial, processed crap. I'd hardly justify calling it a "cake" at all. Why do Americans like these vile things?
