Russian Opposition Leader Assassinated...Hm...
http://www.latimes.com/world/europe/la-fg-russia-boris-nemtsov-killed-20150227-story.html "A fierce critic of Russian President Vladimir Putin, Nemtsov had been preparing to join an opposition rally Sunday against the Kremlin leader’s backing of separatists in eastern Ukraine" Yep...totally legit, that Big Bad Vlad...this I know, for Putin33's told me so...

Color Coded Pieces
Does anyone know if plans are in the works to color code the pieces, making it easier to identify friend or foe?

Eadan are you color blind? that isn't an insult question it is a real one.

Colorblind coding is in the works. It is the next thing on our agenda to implement. So stay tune. :)

All of the armor units in my game are green and all the fleets are grey. I'm asking if German units will be brown, France units blue, etc., etc.
TrPrado (461 D)
04 Mar 15 UTC
Yes. The color of the territory occupied by the unit should correspond with the color of the country. Fleets in the seas and any unit in an unowned (by that country) Supply Center will be in a square corresponding to the color of their country. Hope that helps.
CommanderByron (801 D(S))

I get what Eadan is saying. The picture of the tank is green and the picture of the fleet is grey. @Eadan pay attanetion to the color of the land behind the unit and the small colored square next to the unit, as TrPrado mentioned. The actual olor of the pictures of the tanks and ships is irrelevant.
This was one aspect of the site that confused me enormously when I just came here. Any other dip game I had ever played colored the units, for some reason we here color the background (and add a little square of background when you're in other-colored spaces).

So Eadan, look at the background of the units, not the actual units.

And of course, if there is no square behind the unit it means the units is on its own territory. I too was struggling with this at first.

But colour-coded units on colour-coded territories would be really pretty and nullify the disadvantage experienced by us colour-blind folk.
zultar (4180 DMod(P))

I will make sure that this makes it on the agenda. It does make sense to have the units be the same color as the country. Thanks everyone on the feedback as well as your patience.

@zultar- would it be easier to change the icons to simple squares and circles? Not to say the little tanks arent appealing but if it would make your job easier I do not think anyone would complain.
Just so long as they don't look like the WWIV variant pieces. Those are horrendous.
Nescio (1059 D)

Why not replace those green armies and grey fleets with two different geometrically shapes (e.g. vertical and horizontal bars, or squares and triangles), which always have the colour of their owner, and the nation's name or first letter inside? E.g. a Russian army could be a purple square or vertical bar with a "R" inside, and a French fleet a blue triangle or horizontal bar with a "F" inside.
Perhaps it would look less pretty, but it's probably clearer to everbody.

Besides, green battle tanks were not really used by armies prior to the First World War :)

I for one would complain hugely if the little tanks and ships were replaced by squares and circles. The tanks and ships are cool (and I've only recently overcome my initial annoyance that the tanks are too modern looking. Don't start changing them now!)

I like them as they are and i think most people don't have a problem to identify whose it is.
If you change them to easier be identified, i would like it if you do this like the show orders button.
A button click to make them easily distinguishable incase you have problems with that.

Rape and murder in India
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/magazine-31698154

How can a human being be so twisted in their mind that they would calmly argue that a woman who was kidnapped, gang-raped, and murdered, was the one to blame for her fate?

LAPD Officer Shoots and Kills Homeless Man
http://news.yahoo.com/video-shows-los-angeles-police-shooting-homeless-man-060031475.html The video's already generating controversy (you can watch the unedited version on YouTube, I'll post it, they had to edit it for broadcast) so, yeah...what's everyone's opinion on this incident?

Is the game losing its way? (Takes a while to get to the subject)
I was reading about Henry Kissinger last October when I read that he was a fan of a game called Diplomacy. Naturally I was curious, so I looked this game up. No exaggeration, I haven't stopped playing since October. I also found a site: diplomacy-archive.com
It is from there that I learned the secrets and the tricks of the game and where I read many articles written by players of the game DECADES AGO.

Newbie Question
In the Fall of the first year, I convoyed my army from Yorkshire to Norway, using a fleet that was already in the North Sea. It is now the Build phase, but my unit is not in Norway and I'm not being offered a build option for controlling Norway. Did I do something wrong?

Do you play any other awesome board games?
So Diplomacy is doubtlessly a GREAT game - so simple yet so complete. The chess of our times, so on, so on...
But, there are many other good board games. Are there any games you can recommend?
I personally love Twilight Struggle and Through the Ages, while hate Risk.

basic gunboat strategy
does anyone have an article or whatever on various gunboat strategies for all 7 countries say from spring 1901-autumn 1902? after that, im assuming the board will be unique enough to warrant a unique strategy but i want to know about different opening options in the beginning of the game. thanks!
