Hi everyone,
As of late, I have been studying the Myers' Briggs' personality type indicator, and find it very interesting. So I've decided to poll certain groups of people. If you don't know your type, take the test here. http://www.16personalities.com/free-personality-test

I'm an INFP, and I suspect most of you here are some type of rational(analyst), or NT. Let me know what it is!

Time for another one.
Card games are fun. Just ask a gambler.

I want a few more games as mine start to thin down. Probably 3-7 games, not sure if I want a series just yet. Depends on the interest from others.

Replacement Germany needed
We're looking for a replacement Germany in game:
http://webdiplomacy.net/board.php?gameID=148522

Germany missed a phase, but tons of opportunities. And the game is filled with experienced players. It's anon, but (oddly enough) people are revealing themselves on public chat. So take a look there if you want to know. I've removed the password, so it's free to join.

Can you dislodge your own unit?
e.g You're france and you have an army in Burgundy, Marseilles and Paris. Germany also has a unit in Munich.France orders: Bur to Munich, which gets bounced. Paris to Burgundy with support from Marseilles. Germany's army would just hold in Munich. What happens?

Protip: Accepting Apologies
.

Al Swearengen (0 DX)
23 Oct 14 UTC
I'm from the south. When I first meet people, I begin to apologize.

Profusely.

While my motive in apologizing is first and foremost to attend to and express interest in my neighbor's comfort, I carry the additional motive of both establishing, and seeking recognition of my fantastic manners and social grace.

If you find a southerner doing this to you, and you wish it to stop, telling them that they are apologizing too much will only have the unfortunate effect of soliciting further apologies.

If you truly wish for me to stop, please compliment me on my manners and then deftly change the subject.

Thank you.

I apologize for the need to draw your attention to this. I truly, truly apologize.

Thank you, that is all.

Tru: Hi Al, my name's Tru.
Al: I am REALLY sorry. I apologize.
Tru: For what?
Al: For apologizing.
Tru: But what were you apologizing for in the first place?
Al: I'm so sorry!
Tru: Is it for slavery?
Al: Yes, I'm all torn up about it. Sorry.
Tru: Yeah, that shit was fucked up.
Al: Sorry. I'm from the south you know.
Tru: Oh. I'm sorry.
Al: Me too.

As a fellow southerner I would like to formally apologize for the behavior of Al, this overplayed apologetic behavior is not as common as he would have you to believe. Sorry Al, hate to bust your bubble like that. Also, sorry.

I apologize, President Eden, but what I am about to say may remove some of your comfort... I am a southerner, and I love being here.

@President Eden,

I apologize for your confusion, Sir. In the future I of course pledge to be more clear.

I likewise apologize that your tenure on Staff did not go better. But I admire the prudence of a man who knew to step down before he was fired.
Ouch
~ Harsh ~
That wasn't very Southern gentlemanly of you. I'll have you know I've already told your neighbors, your neighbor's neighbors and the homeowner's association. You can expect a stern talking-to from Old Man Jenkins and a passive-aggressive post-it note stuck to your screen door
Wait, wait! I'm from the south (born in Birmingham Ala & raised 'round Atlanta). There is the magical phrase that can exempt any Southerner from apologizing for anything

"Bless his/her/their heart(s)"

You can say anything about anyone in the south and it's fine as long as you follow it up with this phrase.

Example:

"Coy ain't never had the brains of a billy goat has he? Bless his heart."

When you say "Bless his heart" you're expressing the needed amount of sympathy on the front end so that there is no guilt afterward.

@Tru Ninja,

I get the sense from you that if we actually hung out, I wouldn't have to apologize much. You're what we in the South refer to as a straight-shooter.

It also depends on the setting. If I were invited over to chez Ninja, for example I'd show up with a gift and start complimenting you on things (apartment, family, etc.) until I was told to stop and relax. But the compliment on manners provides the critical signal to relax.

If I bumped into you at a gaming convention I feel like I wouldn't need to apologize since it's neutral turf.

With someone emotional, for example, it's completely different. Have you ever played a press game with Draugnar?

Instead of just saying "Hey bro, can you tap Greece?", I had instead developed a template for exchanging press with him:

"Dear Sir,

I am truly sorry for
*insert bizarre series of accusations here*. These are of course all true
and I apologize for all of them, as well as the various defects of both my
character and personality that have lead to these errors.

You deserve better than this, and the fact that I control eight supply
centers, while you control only four is entirely my fault.

I would like to express my condolences.

Could you please tap Greece?

I thank you in advance, and also apologize both for the terseness and the
very unfortunate timing of this message. I can understand that you're
going through a lot, and would like to thank you both for your years of
military service to our country and to express the utmost sympathy for
your position."

Thanks for the question. That reminds me, Sir Ninja, you and I need to play a press game some time soon.

@seth24c

No need to apologize, Sir. Your opinion was found safely inoffensive due to the lack of credence that I generally assign your writing.

If anything, it is I who should apologize, if nothing else for waking up your father last night when I was dropping your mother off, and also for the lateness of the hour. My hope is that he will accept that this was not personally directed at him.

Votre ami dévoué,
Al

Well isn't it ironic that the person who says something doesn't offend them then sends a quite "interesting" (to say the least) private message to you then mutes you so you can't reply. Taking it a bit hard aren't we Al ;) Sorry you can't take a joke...
seth24c (5659 D)

So I just bought an HTC One M7, which I very much enjoy (upgraded from a Motorola Razr...blech).

I'm debating as to whether or not to play around with rooting it -- any thoughts? Experience? I actually like HTC Sense....but I very curious about rooting.
