20 Dec 14 UTC Autumn, 1906: A week.

To be clear, I have put in moves this turn, but would prefer to pause before the turn processes if possible. Thanks all!
20 Dec 14 UTC Autumn, 1906: Per Russia's request to pause before the turn progresses, I've paused this game using the mod tools. If anyone would not have voted pause, please say so.
28 Dec 14 UTC Autumn, 1906: Would everyone be ok with an extension of Russia's pause until the 5th Jan? I'm travelling for a few days.
28 Dec 14 UTC Autumn, 1906: That's fine with me.
05 Jan 15 UTC Autumn, 1906: Hi everyone! I'm back online properly, and my unpause vote is up.
06 Jan 15 UTC Autumn, 1906: Sorry forgot tot unpause.
22 Jan 15 UTC Spring, 1908: So, both France and I can easily throw this game to wither Austria or Russia (though it would be poor taste) and any conquest would take another month. Want to just draw. It will get uclabb over 100 point finally (I think he said he was in this game).
23 Jan 15 UTC Spring, 1908: I am on board with this decision. Dragging this thing out for another four years of game time sounds really boring to me.
03 Feb 15 UTC Spring, 1909: Is there going to be a 17/17 split, or will A/R stab each other? The suspense is killing me.
04 Feb 15 UTC Spring, 1909: Austria has the clear advantage, would be a shame if he doesn't go through with it.
04 Feb 15 UTC Spring, 1909: I've been in a bunch of games lately where people don't even try for solos. I am the most carebeary player I know, and even I find it bizarre.
18 Feb 15 UTC Autumn, 1910: I am very busy the next few days, and will have almost no time for diplomacy/ be playing from my phone. I wouldn't mind a pause just so that we have time to organize to stop Austria's treachery, but I understand why Austria might not vote for that.

Anyway, my vote for a pause (and draw) is in.
19 Feb 15 UTC Autumn, 1910: I'm happy to pause if you don't have time for the game right now, but I'm against using the pause to get a longer phase length.

I'll agree to the pause if we can get the game set to no press for the duration of the pause. This is something that the league games do, so I don't think it's too much hassle.
19 Feb 15 UTC Autumn, 1910: Fine with me
19 Feb 15 UTC Autumn, 1910: England, France - are you ok with setting the game to no press during the pause? Mod policy is not to make changes to games unless all remaining players agree.
19 Feb 15 UTC Autumn, 1910: England/France? I'm happy to pause if there's no time to play, but I'm uncomfortable with a pause as a means of extra time for diplomacy - that's not what it's for.
20 Feb 15 UTC Autumn, 1910: I'm fine with that.
20 Feb 15 UTC Autumn, 1910: I don't usually play gunboat. Let's pause until Russia can come back or we can end the game.
20 Feb 15 UTC Autumn, 1910: Besides, this is a three-day phase game. It's not like anyone's in a hurry.
20 Feb 15 UTC Autumn, 1910: I meant, we'd turn off press only during the pause. I'm going to pause anyway - I don't like refusing pauses.

My point was that I don't think pauses should afford extra diplomacy time. They're for when a player doesn't have time to play at all.
20 Feb 15 UTC Autumn, 1910: Oh, I see. That won't be necessary for me, I will check out until we come back.

You could always end the game now, of course, to save yourself the wait.
21 Feb 15 UTC Autumn, 1910: Thanks for the pause all. I will be back ready to go tomorrow- I'll log on in about 16 hours and vote unpause. Feel free to just unpause it yourself if you want, mod.
21 Feb 15 UTC Autumn, 1910: *at that time*
22 Feb 15 UTC Autumn, 1910: WTF Vash
22 Feb 15 UTC Autumn, 1910: Sorry, yesterday was rather problematic for me. Ready to unpause and finish off this game now.
05 Mar 15 UTC Wouldn't mind another pause. Sorry, but I'm traveling the next few days. I promise I won't send any messGes austria. Would unpause tuesday
11 Mar 15 UTC Sorry- I know it's super annoying to ask for an extension of an already granted pause, but I really would appreciate it if y'all would grant me to the end of the week. Thanks
12 Mar 15 UTC We're likely to end up with a very long pause in that case - I will be in the UK for three weeks from the 23rd. One option there (to avoid the pause) would be to extend the phase length for that time. I don't mind the slow pace (it is, after all, a game about patience), but it would be good to keep the game rolling.
12 Mar 15 UTC I hope we never unpause
15 Mar 15 UTC Am I to see my hopes come true???
15 Mar 15 UTC Sorry, for some reason in my head Austria's message translated to not unpausing for a while.I can unpause tomorrow
19 Mar 15 UTC Since the unpause still hasn't happened, can we leave this paused for the time I am away, since I won't have regular internet access? I return home on the 13th April, and can unpause immediately then.
19 Mar 15 UTC That's fine with me, although at some point I think we should just consider ending this.
19 Mar 15 UTC I don't think there are many more turns left in this game - I really thought we'd have it finished before my trip, but we ended up needing to pause instead. I'm not in a hurry unless you guys are. I reckon whatever the result, we'll be over in ~6 weeks, even if we let each phase run out.

06 Apr 15 UTC Let us please just end this.
06 Apr 15 UTC I was eliminated from this game something like two months ago. It's looking like that may have actually been a blessing for me. :)
13 Apr 15 UTC Alright, I'm back and finally ready to unpause- let's get this game moving again :)
14 Apr 15 UTC Russia?
14 Apr 15 UTC Sorry- I'll unpause tonight
19 Apr 15 UTC I think this might be the third time you've promised to unpause and then not done it - what's going on?
21 Apr 15 UTC Russia? c'mon, man.
22 Apr 15 UTC Perhaps contact a mod. I would hope Russia isn't trying to prolong to force a draw. That's just poor sportsmanship.
23 Apr 15 UTC Sorry I haven't unpaused. It hasn't been on purpose, per se.

I have zero other games on this site, and honestly even just looking at this game makes me so sad, rally for the first time in my diplomacy career.I couldn't tell you why, but I really really didn't think Austria was going to stab me. So the idea of sitting down and figuring out the best possible moves and then pitching them to Vash, just to have him make some other moves without telling me hasn't been at the front of my mind, and so I have put off/forgotten to unpause. I am doing so now.
25 Apr 15 UTC wtf uclabb
25 Apr 15 UTC Any way go ATC.
25 Apr 15 UTC I totally didn't realize that if I lost even 1 of Kiel and Warsaw ATC soloed. I *think* if I had gone Holland to Kiel and Warsaw supports Moscow to Ukraine we stop the solo, though, right? It was the right idea, just horrible execution.
26 Apr 15 UTC GG, all. I was really surprised when I opened this one up..

I don't know that Mos->Ukr stops it - my read was that you didn't have the units to hold both the Russian home centres and Turkey as long as I kept up the attack, but of course I could be mistaken. It certainly would have been annoying to retake Sil cleanly once I was in Kiel.

I wasn't really expecting England to convoy to Belgium either - I thought Eng was certainly going to Brest to either bounce France out (for the disband/rebuild of a fleet) or to take Brest outright, ultimately giving the opportunity to break MAO and longer term Mars/Spain. Looking at it, I think the convoy to Belgium is a much better move.

Thanks everyone for a great game. There was a wide variety of styles of play in this one, which always makes a really good game.
26 Apr 15 UTC I honestly haven't thought it all the way through, which is bad, but I *think* that we could have had a stalemate without Ukraine. I'm not 100% sure it is safe in the Silesia region, but besides that it is solid.
26 Apr 15 UTC uclabb, i hope you've learnt something from this game. Namely, that the power that benefits most from AR vs Turkey is almost always A.
