I was for working with the NON-ISIS/terrorist factions of the Syrian resistance.
"And as Kissinger said"
And to add to the reputable band of bastards Putin uses to support his views--Henry Kissinger, everyone! The man responsible for bombing Cambodia and arguably indirectly being responsible for the vacuum that let Pol Pot and his Khmer cronies come to power! Now THERE'S a man I trust for fair, balanced, and truly trustworthy international analysis!
And while we're on the subject of discussing past views on world leaders--
Care to tell us again how the new Kim in North Korea is going to redeem THAT horrible Orwellian dictatorship?
But let's first deal with that statement anyway, continue--
"you and the US government's attempts to personalize this conflict and turn Putin into another one of your "Satan/devils" that are supposedly evil incarnate compared to the good ol' USA who bombs half a dozen countries thousands of miles away for no reason is not a policy, it's an alibi for a total lack of policy."
1. I don't have to "attempt" to turn Putin into a "satan/Devil"--the man prolongs civil wars, arguably helps to start them, backs up ruthless dictators and stonewalls UN action against them (and yes, it's wrong when the US does that, too) and throws his own people in prison in waves of persecution...tell me again how that's defensible?
2. WE personalized it? Putin and his government have themselves wasted no time blasting members of our government...pettiness is as pettiness does.
3. Did I say we're the good ol' US of A? No. As usual, for someone who prides himself on allegedly having such a nuanced view of the world, you skip right over any semblance of nuance and stumble right into a steaming pile of your own insipid heap of oversimplifications. Does Putin being bad make us good? No. I'm perfectly willing to call us the "lesser of two evils," if you like...
But we ARE the lesser of the two, make no mistake--we're not the ones supporting Assad, OR fanning the flames of civil war in the Ukraine, OR jailing LGBT people (well, OK, except in the South, of course, but then, that's the same region of the country that produced a President that mused that Putin MUST be a good man because he was a religious man...this, after his country was attacked by hijackers acting in the name of religion. The American South--they wanted to secede, and day after day, I increasingly wonder if it was really worth keeping them from doing so. *Warning--that last statement is a quip and do not reflect the actual view of Obi or affiliates...all two of them.)
4. A total lack of policy? I'm fine with you calling the Obama administration's policy in Syria, at least, failed. That IS a fair criticism. However, a failed policy isn't the same as a lack of one--we tried, we failed. Not the same as having no plan whatsoever.
