What constitutes "not playing fairly"? Clearly, playing through another country's CD isn't that, but how about throwing the game to another country? Or is this just a reference to metagaming and multis?

We don't expect you to be able to tell if someone is running 2 accounts, playing with friends, or just making really stupid moves that mimic cheating. Anything that makes you suspect that someone isn't following our site rules here: http://webdiplomacy.net/rules.php

We do not mind taking the time to look into all issues, since it's one of the easiest and most effective ways to keep the site fair and fun for all the members. There is no downside to reporting something that looks weird or out of the ordinary.

"Extreme Meta" sounds like a new half-pipe event.

I often wonder how you can tell the difference between someone who throws games a lot of out of rage, and happens to play with other people semi-regularly due to timezones, and someone who pre-meditates going into a game to help another player.

well i did send a message about a month ago about 2 ppl (multi/meta ?) in a gunboat , i did received a message from a mod that he would look into it ... but never heared of it after that

It's pretty easy to tell, especially in gunboat.

I suppose gunboat is different, but I've played games where people have handed another nation a free win because they've got pissed at other players, even when they still had a chance of getting a draw themselves. From the outside that must look like cheating, no?

JMO, what you suggested seems like the moderators are the secret police of the site.

@Orka, nah, we're the people who are trying to help all the members have fun games that are free from people cheating. If we were secret police we'd make an effort to hide, not encourage and remind people that we're there to assist when they have problems :)

@Hellenic Riot, yep it can sometimes, thankfully Kestas gave us a whole array of tools that let us very easily determine who is just annoyed with their neighbor, and who is cheating. We take great care to look into every matter thoroughly so people aren't punished or removed from the site unfairly.

Currently, I'm usually on all day during the work week. Since I've started, I'd say I see roughly 7-8 requests for investigations come into the mod inbox. Out of those, I'd say well over half result in either a warning or a ban. In fact, our latest big bust came as a result of a user-initiated investigation today.

The point is that users have an excellent idea of suspicious play. It only takes us a few minutes to conduct an investigation. Email us as soon as possible, especially if there is an ongoing live game that is possibly compromised.

What about the people that have cheated, been found out, let off and are still hogging places high on on the GR site as a result of their cheating ..... nothing doing there I guess !!
