I've been playing a lot of live gunboats, and the quality of play and player in the average live game (especially anything lower than a 50 point buy in) has been... poor lately.

So, anyone who is interested in high-quality, any-stake (sometime low, sometime high) gunboat live games should post here.

When I (or anyone) feel like playing, we'll message the people on this list and get a good game going.

I enjoy playing Gunboat games currently. And i agree that it is frustrating sometimes to play with unexperienced players who make mistakes that look foolish for someone with more / a lot of experience in the game. Just be aware that creating an elite club of players discrimintates those not good enough for the club. How could they learn it, if not from those being better at it than themselves? Anyway as long as this elite thinking will not become all-time behavior i will gladly join the one or other game of diplomacy with "quality" players. Cheers

That's why I also started the School of War for Gunboat. My hope is to be training players once every few months, and also they can learn by playing with each other (much less headache).

You're not the first person to try this. Unfortunately, its just been too difficult to have planned live games in the past. I understand your frustration though. Hopefully we can have reliability ratings on this site soon, which will ideally eliminate a lot of the CDs and new players.

Yeah what's up with that? vDip has had it for over a year, and it's all the same open-source, so it shouldn't take that long to integrate... why is that not done?

I said no such thing. There is talk of RR, just like there has been for the past two years, but as far as I know, no progress has been made. Didn't mean to get your hopes up.

I'm just curios about the reason it hasn't been done yet. Oli has it working at vDip, and if the code is done, why not just copy it over? An explanation would be nice, rather than a snarky response.

Genetic Engineering for monkeys, *by* monkeys?

Scientific basis for communism

I can't find any evidence of a scientific basis for communism. Is it the case that communism requires historical determinism to be true though? Communism only seems to consider "false consciousness", a view that history is static, "class consciousness", a view that history is dynamic and deterministic, but makes no room for history being dynamic and unpredictable.

Is there anyway...

I could be un-banned? I've played on this site since 2007 and have very much enjoyed my time here. I got banned because one of my friends spelled his name wrong in the forum. Apparently this was seen as an act of disrespect to _The Moderators_. I never disrespected _The Moderators_.
