Passworded Game

Well, I am tired of people going CD on me and such. So I am making a regular game which will probably be around 50

. I could make it PPSC or WTA, whatever people would rather prefer. The only thing I want for people in this game is to just play the game and not leave. Of course, if someone needs a pause, it can be provided.

A question about making a game

I've made a second game today: http://webdiplomacy.net/gamelistings.php

Noone has reacted to this game, or the only I made earlier. I can't find the game on the game's list either. Is this a sort of feature - than only other people can find my game? If I could find my own game there, I wouldn't ask this question. Anyone?

Is this Metagaming, just bad style or stupidity?

I am in a game and a power has 16 SC's. to survive i offered him an SC. But that power refused to take it and helped a different power(which has only 12 SC's) to advance further. It is an anonymous game that is the reason i'm posting this in the forum, no one will see it. The question is what to do now, i don't wanne accuse someone for being a Metagamer with out proper proof but somehow the hole situation is pretty screwed.

I would:

1. Wait to see if any further moves arouse your suspicions. E.g. one power just gifts centres to another leading to that power being defeated or losing SCs for no good reason.
2. When the game is finished check to see if the players in question have any history together.

If you still think there is cheating at that point then e-mail the mods.

I do not quite understand the wording of your example but given that this game is in play it is probably better not to post any further details of it.

I would:
1) Not post about a game here. The people in your game will be able to identify it by your post above.

I have lots of other suggestions, but I refuse to make them as it will affect the outcome of your game.

Maybe he wants an 18-16 win with the other player, as a reward for helping him out or something. Also if there is messaging you shouldn't assume that someone is metagaming just because they aren't working with you.

Kaptin and all, I really think that posts like the Kaptin's above are in bad form. In essence, you are telling the OP a possible scenario that he perhaps didn't think about. Now he can try to counter that. Innocuous suggestions are NOT helpful and I think this thread should rightly die.

I have to agree with Kaptain. If he's against 28 SCs and fighting for survival, I don't think it's going to matter much. That being said, more specific kibbitzing is a bad idea.

I'm with DJ on this one. Giving advice to a player in an ongoing game is incredibly poor sportsmanship. If he's worried about foul play, he should email the mods, as has been made overwhelmingly clear. If he wants to buff up on strategy, he can seek comments after the game has finished.

Disappointingly few people seem to really understand the difference between metagaming and multiaccounting, too - which means that people are not only posting false accusations, but accusations of what is actually perfectly legitimate behaviour. I don't suppose it can be made clearer in the FAQs, but a sticky thread about this might help, as suggested in TGM's other thread about multi accusations.

Wait until the game is over. Then research the players. If you think they might be the same person, email the mods. Otherwise, post on the forum asking why they played they way they played so you can better understand. But wait until the game is over.

Why aren't people more talkative?

I'm relatively new to this server, but I've noticed that people don't send a lot of press during a game. I'm in a game now with a player that sends an average of about 12 presses per GAME. This seems incredibly low, and I was wondering if this is just a small sample bias or if this is something that goes on a lot on this server.
