Bug handling stalemates
have a look at the screenshot; seems that the russian army tried to move to sweden; as far as I remember from the official rules, my fleet in denmark should have moved to gulf of bothnia - so this is a bug isn't it?

http://666kb.com/i/amd94y6xed84qxnuq.png

05:22 PM Autumn 1905, Diplomacy: Your fleet at Denmark attempted to move into Sweden but there was a stalemate.
05:22 PM Autumn 1905, Diplomacy: Your fleet at Baltic Sea attempted to attack the fleet at Gulf of Bothnia, but failed.

05:22 PM Autumn 1905, Diplomacy: Your army at Norway attempted to attack the army at St. Petersburg, but failed.

i mean baltic sea should have moved to gulf of bothnia, of course; sorry

and he has a fleet, not an army of course; *lol*

No.
The Baltic would have needed 2 units strength to overcome the fleet in Gulf of Bothnia. It had only one.
The F GoB attacked first, before defending. This is so that if it had been able to move into Sweden, it would have done so instead of defending. Its attack failed, then it defended itself 1-on-1 against Baltic Sea.

I mean, is this the official board game rule - or is this a 0.75 "beta feature"?
Worldbeing (1063 D)

Not sure...
But can I just ask why you didn't support move to Sweden with Norway? That way you'd have been sure of taking it.

From what you described the adjudicator worked perfectly. As worldbeing said, you'd have to attack gulf of bothnia w/ support from somewhere in order to move in as the russian fleet still occupied the territory.

I know now how it is currently implemented, but is this the official rule?

would not it be strange if 1 enemy unit can prevent 2 of mine from moving to different countries?

should not there be a difference, whether a unit has all focus on defending its country, or tried to invade a neighbouring country but failed?

after an attack the units should be damaged and exhausted and should not be able to defend at full strength

I have been searching through the manual, but could not find a similar example.

It would have been resolved like this:
1.
Baltic->Swe
Both->Baltic
Den->Swe

It sees two units moving into Swe, and that they both have equal support. There is a stalemate in Swe and all units moving into Swe now hold

2.
Hold Den
Hold Baltic
Bothnia->Baltic
It sees that Bothnia is moving into Baltic, Baltic and Bothnia both have 1 support, so Bothnia can't move into Baltic
Hold Den
Hold Bothnia
Hold Baltic

I think where you're tripping up is that there is no damaged/exhausted state in Diplomacy, only dislodged, with different levels of support.

So, how diplomacy works is like:

Commander of Baltic Fleet:
"Hmm, I received a command of the Russian General, that I should conquer Schweden. But I have heard of spies, that Denmark is also trying to get Schweden, so it is no use to attempt it. Better stay at home and defend Baltic."

But this would also mean, that I must be able to support hold Baltic, since it did not dislodge or move.

See page 6 of the rulebook; "One unit not moving can stop a unit or series of units from moving. If a unit is ordered to hold, or is prevented from moving, and other units are ordered into its province, those other units can not move."
Merano (2046 D)

I read that section. The samples given about this rule focus on units getting stopped by your own units and that you can't dislodge your own units.

But since it clearly says "One unit" and not "One own unit" or similar, I have to believe you. Many thx.

Officially finishing a game - how ??? if (a) allies or (b) stalemate
What should the players do to have a game officially completed if
(a) two or more are allies and don't want to backstab each other or
(b) a stalemate amongst, for example, two allies on each "side"

StP north coast
I'm not sure if it's on the to do list to create fleets on the north coast here, but it's making Russia far too vulnerable to Britain in Scandinavia.

View a game with password?
Hi there, is there any way to let somebody view our password-protected game?
We have friends who want to keep tabs on the game (in order to make fun of anybody who loses a battle, I think...), but I can't see that game in the list of "Viewable Games". The game is password-protected, mabye that's why?

Does anyone know if the rule the prevents you from dislodging your own unit is implemented? What about a dislodged unit's support always being cut?

HAHA didn't see that one comin!
Spring 1907, Diplomacy: Your army at Piedmont sucessfully defeated the army and moved into Marseilles.
Spring 1907, Diplomacy: Your army at Marseilles was overwhelmed by an attack from the army from Piedmont, and forced to retreat.
Spring 1907, Retreats: Your army at Marseilles was destroyed.

the only reason i supported myself in is because Marseilles was going to be moving out but that got stood off and i was afraid that Marseilles was going to be attacked in the end i probly got the worst deal!

Hey Kobra!
Could u kindly cease playing the game finalize asap? having a multi account and playing both russia and austria is ruining the entire game. Now Russia can do a double prong into turkey and germany, because he knows he will never attack himself. Its absolute tomfoolery.

two armies defending each other
I'd like to see this sort of thing in the program, because I know it's part of the board game, and it seems that without it you wind up with too much guessing and not enough diplomacy. I think the game would be better if we could hold on to gains more easily by just having the forces in two adjacent territories defend each other. Anyone agree? Disagree?

Resign button
I think a good idea would be that if you know you're not going to be on, you can resign from a game. Or finalize holds in advance.

What's being done
Just posting to say what's currently being done by those of us developing.
Personally, I am working on the coast troubles, and currently debugging the code allowing for creation at St. Pete's North. After that, I will just need to make some slight changes to port it for use with moving to the multiple coasts of Spain/bulgaria.

Convoy questions
1. with the present version, what happens to a convoy if the fleet which is doing the convoying is attacked but not dislodged (i.e., a 1 on 1 attack) ?

2. if in (1) the convoy is unaffected - assuming the destination province is unopposed & the army can move there - can the convoying fleet be given support by another fleet so that it would not be affected if two "bad guy" fleets had a coordinated attack (attack w. support)?

Feature request: resolve turn when all players are Finalized
In case the devs ever have too much free time, it would be neat if the game started a timer once every player has finalized their orders. Once the timer expired (say after 5 minutes), the system would resolve the current turn.
This would be great for those rare bursts of attendance that our group sometimes experiences (to offset the long droughts of inactivity...)

Cancelling a created game
Found your site via google, absolutely awesome. I was trying to set up a game for my geographically scattered friends but we were hoping to set it to 7 days per turn not 24 hours. I then read the forum and have since learned the impossibility of said task.

So is there a way for me to cancel/destroy/delete my ill-considered game creation?

Apologies for the error.

Civil disorder
- what is currently the official rule about civil disorder? in some games, players haven't been online for several days, but there is no civil disorder breaking out; so otherwise fast games are slowed down; if civil disorder breaks out, the country will soon be taken over by a new player, but sadly these new players often are unhappy with their desperate situation and stop making moves and the game is slowed down again

- what do you think about this new rule for treating civil disorders:

(1) If a player did not move within 24h, first level civil disorder breaks out immediately. If all other players finished next turn, the game will not wait for the player. No other player may take over his country while in first level of civil disorder. If the player comes back, he may move as normal.

(2) If a player did not move for a whole year (counting spring+autumn, but not retreat and build up phases), 2nd level of civil disorder breaks out. Players may now take over the country.

(3) Add an option when creating a game, that prevents players from taking over a country in civil disorder.
