I have had a response from Jefe. I see the words but still don't really understand the logic. This doesn't happen every game, how often in a gunboat does a player support his opponent into taking his own unit?
I'm still interested in terrysmiths take on the game
Jefe:
"Hi NigeeBaby,
I did end up ceding the game to Germany, but not because I wanted that outcome. I also did not want to be wiped out. I like to survive, and not be defeated. In my estimation, if I tried to fight tooth-and-nail against Germany and yourself in Turkey, I would have been eliminated. So I tried to do a retreat, even with supports so Germany would see my strategy. As it turned out, I realized I also switched to that strategy too late. In the very last turn, you and Germany could have wiped me out. I was hoping Germany would see what I was doing and hold off taking one of my last SCs. You were the one that had a focus elsewhere, so I survived. I don't know what you might think of that strategy or logic, but it accomplished my goals of surviving and holding you back as my primary opponent. Your gameplay was fair and good. I hope that helped. I look forward to seeing you again as friend or foe. :)"
I hope next time he's my friend, we all could do with that kind of help in a gunboat.
