I saw there's a pot - how does that work? I'm fine if the mods can take care of it, but it would mess with everybody's stats (and probably be against the site rules) if we tried to transfer winnings in some other way.

Yeah, the rules are fair, just that it means the country draw ends up being pretty important, since in gunboat it's more difficult to negotiate your way out of a tight spot. But, we'll see how it plays out...

I like Russia much better in gunboat than full press. And Austria is always Austria. Tough without diplomacy.

Yeah, the problem is that often, Austria is no longer Austria in 1904. On the other hand, it's maybe the easiest power to solo with in gunboat at a strong table. In this format, though, since the top half advance, maybe I'd rather draw those later on.

The country that IMO suffers the most in gunboat is Italy, because playing Italy well is a real balance of power challenge, since you have to make decisions far in advance, but getting good information is much more difficult. If I draw 7 Italys, I probably won't make it out of the first round.

Everyone has different preferences. To me 7 italys I am ecststic. I yhink russia is the hardest by fsr. Austria is ok but is hit or miss. G csn be just as bad though.

If the point deduction takes you under 100 total points, you will NOT get those points back automatically. However, we will manually bring you back up to 100 total points (or +50 , which ever is smaller) after you've been eliminated from the tournament without a share of that pot.
