Bills are 3-0. Another huge comeback. They beat the Patriots for the first time like in a decade. I'm pumped.

Ron Paul 2012!
come on, the guy's just a total boss. get the troops out of afghanistan, iraq...hell, everywhere! germany, south korea...etc. abolish the minimum wage, federal income tax, and basically every department except defense, state, and justice (he'd probably keep veteran affairs and treasury, not sure about those two), legalize marijuana, free trade, balanced budget, no draft, states' rights, and END THE FED. Liberty/Revolution!

Here is a suggestion of names to replace 'Julianna' as the Victorian character. These were taken from a Victorian Name website so as to be authentic to the time period. Please voice your opinion as any one of these 4 would fit the character I believe.

Chastity
Jessamine
Selina
Victoria

For the Roman Soldier, these are the names that I suggest (again from a website of names of that time for authenticity)

Caelius
Domitius
Faustus
Glaucio
Livius
Tacitus
Thucydides (864 D(B))
31 Aug 11 UTC
Selina is my vote.

And Faustus.

For the monk - Benedict? Or something?

Byron, and Alyssa for the modern people I vote. For the future guy - let's call them uhh...

Luke and Kevin? Dunno. I'm just making that up. Obviously.
FirstApple (100 D(B))
31 Aug 11 UTC
For the 'brilliant' modern girl, I suggest the following names:

Brianna
Arianna
Lillian
Hannah
Sophie
FirstApple (100 D(B))
31 Aug 11 UTC
Alyssa is a good modern name as well, add it to the list of possibilities.
Draugnar (0 DX)
31 Aug 11 UTC
I like Selina (Selina Kyle aka Catwoman!)
For the Roman soldier, Caelius Tacitus (use the double name) has a nice ring as does Caelius Domitius and Domitius Tacitus.
FirstApple (100 D(B))
31 Aug 11 UTC
For the monk, here are some possibilities from 14th century Worcestershire.

Randulf
Johannes
Nicholas
Laurentius

Or if we want to go with a 'French' monk, the 1292 Census of Paris shows these possibilities

Bernier
Gilebert
Henri
Nicolas
Rionet
FirstApple (100 D(B))
31 Aug 11 UTC
Selina does have a nice sound to it. I'll see what I can find for a surname that would run smooth with Selina.

Faustus Domitius as a possibility for the Roman?
Draugnar (0 DX)
31 Aug 11 UTC
Nicholas/Nicolas is great for the monk.
FirstApple (100 D(B))
31 Aug 11 UTC
I'm thinking future names will probably follow suit of the general trends of today - melding of names and converting general words into names as well as inventing new spellings of old favorites. So a scientist of the future would probably have a name like

Thincon (from the word 'thinking')
Robuel (a combination of Robert and Samuel)
Jupiter (with additional space travel, perhaps planets and stars become common names)

Any other suggestions?
Thucydides (864 D(B))
31 Aug 11 UTC
Selina Shepherd... maybe

Depending on where we set this thing Johannes is cool.. if he's French go with Nicolas

Faustus Domitius works for me.

What period Roman we talking about.. Pax Romana, fall of Rome.. Republic?
Thucydides (864 D(B))
31 Aug 11 UTC
to be honest FirstApple I feel like most names would still exist.

The President of France is also named Nicolas 700 years after your list after all.
FirstApple (100 D(B))
31 Aug 11 UTC
@Thucy - yes, most names WOULD still exist but their popularity may not be the same. Furthermore, we would not be considering the trends of names over the next 300 years if we stick to an 'ancient' name. Remember that a name defines a lot of the perception of a character, thus a futuristic yet realistic name can do a lot to create that illusion of futurisity (probably not a word but you get the point).
FirstApple (100 D(B))
31 Aug 11 UTC
Especially considering HOW MANY new names have been invented over the past 2 decades. With that trend, there will be very few original names left in use 300 years from now.
FirstApple (100 D(B))
31 Aug 11 UTC
For Selina's surname, it should start with a hard consonant and be two syllables. (Names tend to sound better when one is soft, the other hard; one has one or two syllables and the other three or more)
Thucydides (864 D(B))
31 Aug 11 UTC
Selina Salisbury. Lol. I dunno Im bad at this sort of thing.
Draugnar (0 DX)
31 Aug 11 UTC
I don't know... Ronald Reagan, both are two syllables and it's alliterative (is that a word?). Bruce Wayne and Clark Kent both break at least one of those rules and yet are cool sounding. And James Kirk, Jean Luc Picard, Obiwan Kenobi, Anakin Skywalker, Han Solo... These are all great names.

And I'm a fan of Lucas's characters' names.
Draugnar (0 DX)
31 Aug 11 UTC
Selina Drake yeah I like that one.
FirstApple (100 D(B))
31 Aug 11 UTC
I agree that they are great names that 'break' that rule, but generally speaking those are the rules you like to follow in order to make a smooth interesting realistic name. There are obviously exceptions to that as you've mentioned and if you can come up with one, that's great. But the exception is harder to find than following the general rule of thumb.
FirstApple (100 D(B))
31 Aug 11 UTC
Here's a victorian Surname list. Check it out there and see what you might like. I'll look for a surname list for the monk and roman as well.

31 Aug 11 UTC
Character naming is one of the most important parts as the characteristics of a person by that name are held within the mind and thus shape the visualization that the reader has on that particular character. That's why I do so much research and consideration at this part.
FirstApple (100 D(B))
31 Aug 11 UTC
For the monk, look here. http://www.historylearningsite.co.uk/medieval_surnames.htm

I like Nicolas Bennett

(Bennett means Blessed which would be appropriate for a monk - surnames had a lot more meaning then)

Soft N - 3 syllables - Hard B - 2 syllables
Thucydides (864 D(B))
31 Aug 11 UTC
I wish he was named Johannes is sounds so medieval and dark aages
Draugnar (0 DX)
31 Aug 11 UTC
I'm goinjg to suggest one that breaks the rules for Selina...

Selina Goodfellow

I also like:
Selina Dawes
Selina Blackmore
Selina Dickenson
Selina Ferguson
Selina Fitzpatrick
Selina Jefferies
Selina Knight (considering the first name is Catwoman's it seemed appropriate)
Selina McDermott
Selina Price
Selina Swan (sometimes alliteration works)

FirstApple (100 D(B))
31 Aug 11 UTC
That's a good vote as well. See what you can find in that list as a good surname that would work with Johannes. Then we'll vote on full names.
Draugnar (0 DX)
31 Aug 11 UTC
I didn't see Fitzcairn on the list though. That would also work well for Selina.
FirstApple (100 D(B))
31 Aug 11 UTC
That's a great list Draugnar. Out of it, I would vote for Selina Goodfellow (does ring well), Selina Dawes, Selina Blackmore or Selina Swan.

Many of those middle names are Irish which during that time would have been viewed as 'lesser' by the English which is in contraire to the feeling we want to create with her.
FirstApple (100 D(B))
31 Aug 11 UTC
I particularly like Selina Dawes out of all of them.
FirstApple (100 D(B))
31 Aug 11 UTC
Johannes Godfrey or Nicolas Bennett? What are your preferences?
Draugnar (0 DX)
31 Aug 11 UTC
I like Selina Dawes as well. So I'll shift my vote there. I like both names for the monk, but prefer Nicolas Bennett or maybe use the Goodfellow idea for Johannes. Johannes Goodspeed/Goodfellow perhaps? Considering he'd go by "Yo-han", Goodfellow would work well and fit in your rules.

Hillary 2016, Anyone?
There was a time where I REALLY loathed Hillary Clinton, but the job she's done as Secretary of State...she's EASILY been the most effectual person in the Obama administration...and hey, I liked the 1990s, and while I didn't like him as a kid, as an adult, I do appreciate Bill...

Would anyone else here consider voting for her in 2016 (or even make her the favorite?)

Carry a grudge or friendship
I wanna know, would you or have you carried a grudge from one game to another? Like you want to destroy this particular player because he betrayed you in a previous game?
Likewise, have you experienced carrying a friendship or alliance from one game to the next, like you'd send a message to a player saying "wanna be friends again :-)" and other player replied "sure, worked so well last time..."

Help Wanted: Critique My Personal Statement
I'll be applying to medical school in the next few weeks, and would appreciate any feedback you all have on my personal statement. It's a very rough draft, so any thoughts are welcome. I'm probably about 125 words short of the maximum right now (The maximum is actually 5300 characters, and I'm around 4000)
