brainbomb, just because there is a disparity, does not mean ALL of the difference is racial profiling. there is quite a bit of evidence to suggest that per capita there are higher crime rates among blacks in America. This, to some extent, is being reflected in the incarceration rate.

this is not to say racial profiling is not also inflating those numbers. look at the 538 article i referenced, they talk about the problem too, inasmuch that the FBI doesn't collect enough data to make solid data on this.

My whole case is that because the crimes reported by citizens run roughly in line with crime arrests, that it's not *solely at least* a problem of an overly racially discriminatory police system that is causing the disparity in incarceration rates.
