ND, when has America ever treated its allies so poorly? The current global order exists because our allies believe that we have their back - be it the Philippines or Estonia. If we give other countries reason to think that we won't back our word, that's an easy recipe for a rapid change in the current world order. You know that Russia, China, India, Iran, etc will jump on that. That you are not horrified that Trump could lead us down such a path shows a remarkable lack of foresight. Europe has never kept up their NATO dues. But that is not a reason to break NATO.
We're also saying "whatever" for blue collar work simply because we wish to help all those who are current blue collar workers either transfer to a different blue collar field that is non-competitive (construction, for example) or into white collar work (IT, etc).
ND - think about it from a business perspective. You could either pay $25,000 for a machine to do the work, or $15 an hour for a person to do it. Over time, the machine will do the better job. "Looking out" for the American people in this case will either entail the government forcing US businesses to shoulder billions more in expenses, or entail the government paying US businesses billions of dollars to subsidize those expenses.
I say - why incur that cost at all?
