Even though it wasn't a actual tournament or anything and the games were originally 'wait for ready up' and that stopped halfway through leading to a lot of cds... i figured as they've all come to an end i would post the "results" anyway

"Shut Down" Bullshit by Obama
If we don't Federal Workers to man the WWII memorial...how come we have enough to pay the guards to put up barricades and stand guard to prevents WWII vets from visiting? How come Obama still seems to have staff at his *golf course*?

Seems Barrack Dickhead Obama has a very selective vision of what "shut down" means...

DEBT CEILING NEGOTIATIONS
If nobody has ever negotiated on the Debt Ceiling, as Obama and the intellectually vacant around here say, …then how did we get Sequestration after the Debt Ceiling negotiations in 2011. Sequestration was *Obama’s* plan, by the way.

How very little intellectual integrity exists within you morally perverted Democrats…

Rank Questions
So how long does a player remain a Political Puppet and then move on to Member, Experienced, etc?

Is it a matter of how long you've played or how many times you've won or drawn? Or is it just based on time spent on the site? Just curious. Thanks for your help....

Any interest in a 3 to 4 day phase game? I'd definitely want WTA, but buy-in, anonymity, and map (classic or modern) are up for debate. Drop a line and your preferences if interested. Thanks.

was lincoln great for our elite?
bill still seems to think the elite wanted to divide america so lincoln was a problem for them. but i am not so sure. lets say he did not declare war on the south and let the south kick out the norths military from their territory, would that have really benefited them much?

College Life
So a couple months ago I asked the WebDip community for advice for college. Many of you said that joining a frat would be a good idea, and at the very least I should check it out.
Well, on October 7th I am pledging to Theta Chi; are there any soon-to-be fellow frat mates on WebDip? What other fraternities are people a part of?

Fog of war variant
Correct me if there is already one, but wouldn't it be cool to have a variant with 'fog of war'? You would only be able to see enemy units in territories neighbouring your own territory/armies. The uncertainty would make things very interesting.. perhaps with additional distance limitations on conversation as well

GUNBOAT TOURNAMENT
As has been mentioned, I am hoping to run a gunboat tournament. I intend it to be basic but also comprehensive. I will detail some "things" below. I would like to get a read on who would be interested in playing.

My vote is for "as-is" or "bragging rights only", I'm with 2WL we could do a separate high pot smaller tourney if there is enough interest.

Trooth (561 D)

.
I think we will probably go without buy-ins as it appears to be the only thing that will work.

We can do 50 D buy-in per person, as everyone can afford this (or will be able to before the tournament is over -- 35 + 50 < 100 D).

I will PM some people tonight and we can get games going.

Sounds good. Thanks Lando for pushing the envelope -- maybe we can separate runs at higher pots, with the winners across pots meeting in a champions round -- everyone participates and get's their gamble-on to a level which makes them happy. SD may have trouble finding takers at the 5,000@ pot table though...
josunice (3702 D(S))

Lando - my suggestion is for a next time, of course! Looking forward to kicking this off!

Be interested to hear the scoring system for advancement. That way I can go ahead and fill out my Tournament Bracket.
Round 1 & 2 - Solo victory is worth 13 D, draw worth 12 D divided by number of players sharing in the draw. Survives and defeats worth nil. Tie-break in order - # of solos, # of draws, # of total centres (draws only).

Round 3 - Solo victory worth 1 point. Draws, survives and defeats worth nil. Tie break - total # of centres (draws and survives). Second tie-break fewest # of survives.

Points are not carried over to the next round, correct?
Gen. Lee (7588 D(B))
08 Feb 13 UTC
Top 7 scores from A&B move on to play each other and top 7 from C&D move onto play each other, or top 14 from entire group move on and new groups are developed for the next round accordingly?
Actually, top scores from A & D move on to play as do top scores from B & C.

The top 3 players from each group move on. Then, the highest scoring 4th from each apir of groups will get the 7th spot.
Gen. Lee (7588 D(B))
08 Feb 13 UTC
That sounds the most fair.
jimgov (219 D(B))
08 Feb 13 UTC
Not to disrespect anyone who is playing in this tourney, but I am THRILLED that Czech is NOT in either my group or in the two groups that I am in to advance. In the few games that we played together, I remember him as being the best player on the board every time. And we played with some pretty good players. Whew!
Bump

Initial groupings will be as follows:

Group A: Split, gen. lee, stressedlines, trooth, yebellz, brianofboru, Chaqa
Group B: Czech, ava, fulhamish, Mapu, pjmansfield, josunice, Speakertoalens
Group C: CSteinhardt, fairfax, jesuspetry, alexnesta, Your Humble Narrator, y2kbtk, Draugnar
Group D: Lando, 2ndwhiteline, nigeebaby, jcbryan, jimgov, rdrivera, the ministerofwar

@Jim - as the top seed in our group I feel disrespected (kidding). I think all the groups are pretty tough. The last time I was with jcbryan in a GB tourney he solo'd 3/3 first round games. Never seen anything like it.
jimgov (219 D(B))
08 Feb 13 UTC
I haven't played with many of the top players, so I am not in a position as to determine who is the best. All I am saying is that I KNOW, first hand, how good Czech is. And he is scary good. If you are better than him...crap. I'm in trouble.

Predictions anyone:
-First top seed eliminated?
-Lowest GR/seed to make it to the finals?
-Winner?
-How many solos wins it?
Total solos for entire tournament (49 games)?

I haven't paid attention to the format and such, but I'll make some winner predictions:

Overall winner: either SplitDiplomat or CSteinhardt (it will be a close one, but I think CSteinhardt will edge SD very very narrowly)

Second tier of winners: Lando, Czech

Gen. Lee (7588 D(B))
09 Feb 13 UTC
Ill answer my own questions,
Fist top seed out, I've got CSteinhardt going out round 1
Lowest seed in the finals, my money is on YHN
Winner...Gen. Lee...well if I have to pick someone else I'd go with fairfax as well.
Can't imagine there's more than 1 solo in the finals.
I've got 16 total solos...which is alot
jimgov (219 D(B))
09 Feb 13 UTC
Holy cow! 16 solos out of, what, 49 games? With this murderers row playing? That would be a lot.
lol zultar you can't just pick the top 4 seeds - where are your sleeper picks?

Fist top seed out - Split, so I don't have to face him ;-P
Lowest seed in the finals - rdrivera
Winner - 2ndWL
Total solos - 14

Did you actually make a bracket, Gen.?

I have messaged people to create games, so things should be happening now.
jimgov (219 D(B))
09 Feb 13 UTC
I'm in all 7. Lets get it on.
AlexNesta (239 D)
09 Feb 13 UTC
Fist top seed out - Lando, so he can focus on keeping the tournament running smoothly
Lowest seed in the finals - rdrivera
Winner - CSteinhardt
Total solos - 11
Gen. Lee (7588 D(B))
09 Feb 13 UTC
Yeah I made a mock bracket lol

Group A invites are out let's get it on.

Jimgov, every tourney I play there are always more solos than I would expect so I took what I thought would happen and bumped it up.
Anyone from B or C who wants to set up games feel free to do so, please send the following with it:

By joining these games you are agreeing to pay 50 into a WTA pot for the tournament now or when it becomes available.

The following is the scoring for the first round:

Solo victory is worth 13 , draw worth 12 divided by number of players sharing in the draw. Survives and defeats worth nil. Tie-break in order - # of solos, # of draws, # of total centres (draws only).

There will not be a shuffling of powers in the first round.

Any questions comments or concerns please post them now.

IPCC finally admits that it was lying to us all

My stance on global warming for the last year has remained the same: The IPCC were exaggerating their claims, and that while global warming is happening, its not happening as quickly as climate scientists think.
