Personally, I'm sad that KB was banned. My interactions with him both in and out of game were always pleasant and courteous.
But then, I never engaged with him over American politics - which, frankly, I don't give a damn about.
Here was someone who enjoyed playing Diplomacy and he's no longer allowed to play on this site. For all we know, KB may never play Dip again - and if we love this game (which many profess to do), that would be sad indeed.
What disappoints me most, though, is that site members deliberately engaged with and goaded him - and that is no way to treat anyone, whether you agree with their politics or not.
It's especially troubling if this was done for 'sport'. That's basically bullying.
If we are serious about respecting people on this site then we have to do two things.
Firstly, we have to support the mods in their decisions (which I think we all do).
Much harder, though, is the second thing; to leave game animosity 'on the board' and prevent 'forum rage' from spilling over into games. That requires self-discipline and maturity.
