Poetry opportunities..?
There used to be great organizations that worked through my school for poetry in youth, but now that I actually have an appreciation for poetry it seems like there aren't as many opportunities to perform or compete with poems.
Is anyone aware of prominent high school poetry organizations?

It may sound odd but some of my favorite poets are ones that received their fame through slam poetry such as Sage Francis or George Watsky.

These words were sounds that were found in a town at the bottom of a valley in a deadbeats basement

Down in the ripple of a river in the middle of a transplant liver and a hip replacement

Gifted by a God who was given all the time but he had no patience

Well
Well
Just imagine for the sake of argument
This is hell
Were all Brutus
Were all Bandits
It was perfectly scheduled
But we didnt plan it
It was written on the back of a stack in a snapple, that was harvested by mammals who had taken all the apples from the garden in a seige.

Saw things in the valley that you wouldnt believe.
Merciful warlords
bayonnetts and swords
lurking in the weeds like a mongolian horde in the bottom of the valley in a deadbeats basement.

Down in the thicket by a yacht was a dock that was covered by a flock who was mostly cavemen.

Seemed a little strange but the focus of this plane is preppin up the pep talk for how you explain dirt on your hands while youre trying all your plans on the ways that a sound can resound off the walls in the echo at the bottom of a river in a deadbeat basement.

Well

Fishin'

So strange my position
Wake up in the morning
Then go out fishin
Middle of the night
Im gorging in the freezer
Bathrobe jammies livin like a geezer
Cook a mean skillet then kill it with a lyric like a pleb
Ice fishin in july
Floatin by in a sled
Flannel and a beard
Bait tackle landing net
but forgot all of my beer

I keep it chilled cold on the lake floor knockin on the door like a catfish pretending they do backflips listening to footprints tapping on the under belly of a speed boat stoppin droppin deep floats waitin like a robber with a bobber in a rain coat soaked from a storm that slew all the swarms of the horse fly nights quick lifts and tired mouths hiding in the deep by the dam river town

A bit of Watsky's "Carry the one" about climate change

I'm most found in this city when I can't see 5 feet in front of me
And I don't think I have the words to explain fog to my children
To tell my grand kids what snow was like
It's hot today, and you could fry an egg on the hood of our karma
We're driving ourselves off a cliff, with a bag of money in the trunk
Our dollars read "in god we trust"
I went to Well's Fargo today because my fog bank went bust

Is this game getting less popular?
I remember using this site years ago and I felt I could always find games to join, or if I made a game it would fill up in a couple of days at most.

Is there another site that people are using to play? It still seems like this one is the best at least from my quick google.

Must See Movie Reccomendations
So I like movies a lot and one of my goals in life is to watch every movie that is worth watching. I've seen most of AFIs top 100 and I have a to-watch list that is 168 films and counting. As such, I was curious if anyone here has some must-see movies that I may not know about.

Music major?
I've considered pursuing a music major.. is the outcome worth the cost? It seems like the stereotype for music majors is that there's no real future.
What ARE the possibilities?

The Arab Spring was a horrible failure
Can you name any countries that benefitted from the Arab Spring? Libya is literally a slave-state, Egyptians overthrew one leader only to overthrow the next, Iranian arab spring failed, Syria is a bloodbath. Is there a single positive that came from this movement?

Why no love for Sum of Squares scoring?
Personally, I'm not a big fan of Draw Size scoring, because it rewards the power that hung on with one dot the same as the 17 SC power that was a hair away from the solo.

What I've noticed is that almost every new game is Draw Size Scoring. Is that just because it's the default option or are players here just not fond of it.

The Paris Uprising of 1832 was a horrible failure
Can you name any characters that benefited from the Paris Uprising of 1832? Éponine is literally and figuratively heartbroken, Jean Valjean overcame Javert only to die of old age in the next bloody act. Is there a single positive that came from this musical?

Who Are The Real Dinosaurs In Congress?
Republicans do a better job of promoting younger members, in part because they limit, to six years, the length of time a member can be chairman or chairwoman of a committee. Democrats do not impose term limits on committee leaders or so-called ranking members, the top slot for lawmakers who are in the minority.
