You're obviously OK with apparently both the attempt to convert dead Jews to Mormonism, and the attempt to turn dead Mormons gay. I'm not OK with the former, and I'm only OK with the latter as a way to protest and express displeasure with the former. (It's purpose is also two fold in parodying the Mormon view that homosexuality is a choice, but leaving that aside.)

My point is that you're being offended over something that is not offensive. Even if the Mormons are *absolutely right* about their religion, posthumous baptism doesn't convert the dead against their will-- it's no more offensive than knocking on their door when they're alive. The Mormons believe the dead have the same ability to "defend" their faith that the living do.

I wonder how that can affect you since you don't believe in mormon sacraments effectiveness? And if you do, you can only rejoice.

And this posthumous baptism thing just illustrates how little respect the Mormon church has for other people's lives and beliefs. Of course it's ineffectual, I'm not bothered by this because I think they're sincerely accomplishing anything, but I think that very bigoted organizations running around and showing a complete lack of respect for other groups is a problem which underlies a great deal of REAL ACTUAL social problems.
