@goldfinger: We have 6 minutes in between classes. I usually don't leave right at the bell. Most of the time it take 2-5 minutes to get to the next class. If you are late too many times (more than 2 in a quarter) you will get detention. Most of the time, I need to hurry.

Oh, and in a lot of classes, if you aren't in your seat by the time the bell STARTS ringing, you're tardy.

Well, if you can't meeet 10 new girls or people a day, set the number lower, but make sure you keep up at it.

And stop using AS as an excuse. Sure it makes things harder and is a serious condition, but when you say that you want to change don't bring up the fact that you are resistant to it. Just do it. Every day do something that is out of your comfort zone.

Are you in any clubs or organizations related to your school. Its a good way to meet and interact with new people. And you usually aren't just sitting there talking. There is some sort of activity which makes talking to new people less stressful, because the attention isn't 100% on the conversation.

@Tom: I'm in chess club, but it's almost completely guys in chess club. I also bowl in a league, but that isn't school related.

That's good. If you have time, try joining a more social club. I can't suggest any as I don't know what your school offers.

They have a bunch of clubs, but the thing is, all the clubs I'd be interested in are the nerdy clubs with mostly guys in them.
I was gonna do cross country this year but then I forgot to tell my mom that and now it's way too late to join. I think. Because I do remember them advertising cross country try-outs at the beginning of last year, so maybe they offer a second chance to join. I'll have to look into that.

@ CM - I had 5 minutes, and your teachers sound like dicks. None of the teachers at my school really cared....correction....I remember 4 in all my high school career that really, truly cared. Plus, if they like you they will be less apt to do it.

Does your school have a Model UN club? Or Model Congress? I did HMUN for three years and it was a blast.

@gf: Well, really the only teacher I had that actually makes you be in your seat was my math teacher, but I do think official school policy is you have to be in your seat. But no teacher ever ignores actual tardies. If you come in later than the bell, you get a tardy pretty much every time.

Oh, and we don't have model congress or model UN. The closest thing we have is mock trial.

Well, the math and english teachers were the only ones that really cared at my school. School policy was pretty relax - more focused on keeping kids from skipping class than showing up late.

And mock trial can be very cool as well. I was in a youth court, which is different, but I had always wanted to do mock trial. Some pretty good looking chicks did mock trial in my school. and as a rule, if you smell nice and act friendly-but-not-creepy, then you'll have no problem with girls talking to you.

Oh, and I do science olympiad as well, but again, mostly guys.

@CM - A good way to meet people (especially girls) is to get involved in the drama department putting on the musicals and the plays. You don't have to act, just volunteer to be a stage hand. I did the musicals from the orchestra pit all through high school but of course I only met the people I already knew from the various bands doing that and a few of the actors but then I started being a stage hand for the regular plays, doing things like curtain pulling and prop rearrangement during the performances and I got to know some people not in my usual circle of friends and aquaintances that way. Oh, and I get to know a lot of cute girls who wanted to grow up and be famous movie stars and such and became "good friends" with them, eventually dating one or two despite being a total geek/big brother.

One other thing I did was the class float for the homecoming parades.

Only a few guys worked on that, but the girls needed guys with carpentry skills to build the basic elements that they would then decorate. This led to several "everyone pile in a car and go to McD's" events. It was never as much fun as when one guy was squeezed into a Chevy Chevette with like 6 girls sitting on each other's (and his) lap. Of course, you'd get a ticket if a cop saw that now, but oh the joys of being crushed under cute girls...

And take head of Goldfinger's advice. Be nice and act friendly-not-creepy. It really does work. Don't worry about being "like a brother" at first. You can break through that in time and the friendship, if it progresses further, will be that much better because you weren't after just an afternoon under the bleachers.

@Draug: I took drama last year. Wasn't a good idea. Ended up embarrassing myself in front of a bunch of girls quite a few times.

Also, the majority of good-looking girls are alcohol-drinking party-going bitches, and while they're hot, I'm not that interested in being friends with them or dating them. I'm looking for the rare cute girl who isn't like that.

Oh, and out of curiosity, when you were in high school (any of you), what % of girls did you find attractive? Because I only find 15% at most to be attractive, and that seems to be a lot lower than most other people.

Geez. Hard to say. More than 15%, but then I was a geek so if she noticed my existance and didn't weigh more than me (and I was only 5'9" - 5'11" and 120-130 lbs depending on the year), have bad acne, or bad teeth, I'd consider her worth pursuing.

Conservative Man I remember when I young I had absurdly high standards. But later when you are older (40) you will realize that they were *all* beautiful.

Well CM it sounds like you're going to end up with either a super-hot girlfriend or no-one.

I agree with Draug about the Drama department being a good way to meet girls.

I think you problem is two-fold:

1) You don't have a realistic expectation about what women look like.
2) You don't know any of these women well enough to judge them properly.
