game won before retreats

I noticed that games end if someone gets to 18 centers after a fall diplomacy phase. But what if a dislodged unit could retreat to a center of the winner, stopping his win? The question is academic - I have not seen a game where this would have mattered.

Please Unpause all the games now!

If the System Administrators can pause all the games they should be able to unpause them as well. Would you do that soon, please?

How to restart games? Unpause?

I am thankful that the server has underhgone improvements, my thanks and congratulations to all who helped out.

In order to restart these games, does every player need to hit "unpause", or will the games unpause automatically once the details of swapping servers are cleared up?

Pause & System Message Idea

Because of troubles in No In-game Messaging situations, it would be nice to have a System Message Tab where Mod/Admin/System messages only got posted. Also, what if the Pause button led to a Pause Request . . .

Because of troubles in No In-game Messaging situations, it would be nice to have a System Message Tab where Mod/Admin/System messages only got posted. Also, what if the Pause button led to a Pause Request, where the initiator gave a time frame in days and a reason that would post in a System Tab. The Pause request and time frame would be displayed above the Pause, Draw, and Cancel buttons. The Pause would commence countdown on the final player registering approval for the Pause. This would prevent players from not unpausing, or games being held up when a system-wide pause got instituted. Thoughts?

I like it. Maybe add a majority-pause feature (or option when creating the game). Good luck getting your idea approved!

Easier way rather than System Message tab is to always have the Global tab that you just can't send to in a no-press game, but which you can see if a system message appears. It could also then unlock after the game has finished so you can have end of game discussions.

Back before webdip 0.8, pause/draw requests did go to global, but that was replaced by the buttons and the lower display which shows who has voted. It would certainly be nice if the messages still appeared in global.

System tab (or read only global) is good. Majority pauses are not (it should remain an all or nothing) and allowing someone to post a pause reason is also a bad idea as it could allow one to communicate something else and bypass the gunboat aspect of the game.

Actually you can see the system messages if you scroll all the way down and click on "Messages" in "Archive:"

@thelevite, yes, but it still doesn't clear the flag saying you've got a message which can be annoying.

@diplomat554, such could be used as prearranged code. Of course if you prearranged a code then you could just talk outside the game.

Frankly I don't think the reason matters so much as the time. Would be nice to have pauses that had set endings.

Screen Jump

I was entering my moves in my game 64373 and I dropped one of the boxes to fill out, and it suddenly finalised! The screen jumped, and its completely frigged all my moves. One unit has gone the wrong way, and others (the holds) were because I hadnt entered them yet.
